With Steam Generator Patents (Class 202/94)
  • Patent number: 11760937
Abstract: Systems and apparatuses for controlling oven draft within a coke oven. A representative system includes an uptake damper coupled to an uptake duct that receives exhaust gases from the coke oven and provides the exhaust gases to a common tunnel for further processing. The uptake damper includes a damper plate pivotably coupled to a refractory surface of the uptake duct and an actuator assembly coupled to the damper plate. The damper plate is positioned completely within the uptake duct and the actuator assembly moves the damper plate between a plurality of different configurations by causing the damper plate to rotate relative to the uptake duct. Moving the uptake damper between the different configurations changes the flow rate and pressure of the exhaust gases through the uptake duct, which affects an oven draft within the coke oven.

  • Patent number: 10053628
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for treating carbonaceous materials by steam thermolysis, comprising: shredding carbonaceous waste materials; introducing the shredded carbonaceous waste materials into a reactor heated by combustion gases, gases laden with steam being introduced into the reactor so as to heat said shredded carbonaceous waste materials to a temperature between 200 and 700° C. during a steam thermolysis reaction; cooling the combustion gases to a temperature between 200 and 450° C. and discharging said gases; discharging from the reactor the vapor/gas products formed in the reactor by steam thermolysis, followed by condensation of said products; separating the condensate obtained from said condensation into water containing residual hydrocarbons and into oil, and the water from the condensate being used as a source of heat energy for the reactor. The present invention also relates to a device for implementing the invention.

  • Publication number: 20130199920
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for producing an energy carrier and/or raw material carrier from moisture-containing and/or dry biomass with the aid of a heatable carbonisation reactor (1) having a closable inlet opening (13). The biomass is converted in the carbonisation reactor (1) into a solid, pourable or gaseous energy carrier and/or raw material carrier and for interim storage of the energy carrier and/or raw material carrier is then delivered via a closable outlet opening (14) to a coolable tank (9) connected to the carbonisation reactor (1). The tank (9) is connected to an adjoining heatable gasification reactor (16), in which gas and waste substances, such as ash, are separated from the energy carrier.

  • Patent number: 6875317
Abstract: Wastes mainly containing any one or two or more of raw garbage, waste lumber, paper diapers, waste plastics, and organic sludge discharged from the food industry, common houses, etc. are exposed to high-temperature steam of 510 to 900° C. in an oxygen-free state, preferably while being stirred, to be carbonized. Thereby, the amount of wastes is reduced safely and efficiently with no fear of generating harmful substances such as dioxin, and moreover the carbonized wastes can be reused effectively for applications to fuel or the like.

  • Patent number: 5034021
Abstract: Apparatus is described for the pyrolysis of coal comprising a pyrolysis tower through which crushed coal and hot gas are counter-currently passed. The tower enables a controlled temperature profile to be maintained in the tower, and contains inner appurtenances which define cascading passageways to promote heat exchange and mixing of the coal with the hot gas. The coal volatiles are carried out of the top of the tower by the gas. The pyrolysis tower may be conjoined with a gasifier so as to most directly utilize the char residuals remaining after pyrolysis of the coal while they are still hot to more efficiently produce a hot synthesis gas, to be used to perform thermal pyrolysis in the tower.

  • Patent number: 4398998
Abstract: Energy and useful products are recovered from plantain wastes in a self-contained waste treatment plant wherein the raw material waste is charged into a boiler where the same is combusted to produce flue gases containing several organic compounds and dry ash containing residue mineral salts. The flue gas heats water in a water reservoir to generate steam which drives a turbine generator to produce electricity, the flue gas then being collected and at least partially condensed to form a pyroligneous acid solution from which alcohols and the like can be recovered. The dry ash containing residue mineral salt is mixed with other minerals or reagents with the resulting mass being supplied into a continuously stirred fusion furnace situated within the boiler to which heat is supplied by the flue gas to produce commercially useful products, such as zeolites, dolomite or other related products.
