  • Patent number: 11273973
Abstract: A pack comprising a base containing a group of tobacco industry products wrapped in a barrier layer that comprises a section to define an extraction opening for the removal of tobacco industry products when the pack is open is disclosed. The pack has a lid attached to the base for rotation between open and closed positions and a lid front wall having an inner surface. A lid front wall flap is folded relative to the lid front wall. A label is attached to said section and has a portion attached to the lid so that, when the lid is rotated into an open position, the section is lifted to open the extraction opening. The lid front wall flap is shaped so that the portion of the label is attached to the inner surface of the lid front wall rather than to the lid front wall flap.

  • Patent number: 4711349
Abstract: In pouch packs for tobacco or the like of the "side-folding pouch" type, it is difficult to make a hermetic closure for the orifice of a pocket of the pouch pack, because accumulations of material impeding the provision of a closing seam or the like arise in the edge regions as a result of the construction of the pack. For this reason, the pouch pack is spread out to the full width of the blank in the region of the orifice for the provision of a closing seam, the closing seam is then made and the projecting lengths of material thus formed in the region of a covering tab are folded over inwards against the latter. This results in a pouch pack which is closed in an absolutely leak-proof manner and which has an essentially cuboid shape after completion.

  • Patent number: 4402403
Abstract: A gusseted pouch for cut tobacco is made from outer sheet blanks sandwiching an intermediate paper layer, folded to form a pocket with side walls. This causes an excess accumulation of material at the side edges in the region of the pouch pocket opening due to a plurality of layers of material. To counteract the difficulties resulting therefrom during the production of a closure for the pocket, recesses 28, 29, 30, 31 are provided in the paper blank at its lateral edges and corners.

  • Patent number: 4294642
Abstract: A package and a process for making the same is disclosed. The package is especially useful for cigarettes and is of the hard cup type being made with a packing body of cardboard, pasteboard or similar material. The body of the package is provided on the outside with a moisture and odor (aroma) tight coating and, at least at the upper edge, a strip of inside tin foil wrapping is attached for the formation of a front fold. The arrangement simplifies the package blank and results in a finished package having an overall metal coating.

  • Patent number: 4189050
Abstract: A tobacco or similar packing of the folding bag type, i.e. comprising a strip of sheet material which is folded about a transverse folding line offset from the middle of the strip so as to present a front panel having a free top edge and a bottom edge constituted by said folding line, and a rear panel extending upwardly from said bottom edge to beyond the top edge of the front panel, the side edges of the adjacent panels being joined so as to define a flat bag portion, the rear side of which is extended into a flap portion beyond the top of the bag portion, said flap portion being folded or adapted to be folded down along the front side of the bag together with the uppermost part of the bag portion, about a second transverse folding line underneath the top edge of the front panel, and being fastened or adapted to be fastened in a releasable manner to the exterior surface of said bag portion by means of adhering fastening means.

  • Patent number: 4072233
Abstract: A container includes a plurality of walls that define an enclosed space. One of the container walls has a frangible piercing point thereon adapted to be penetrated by an extraction device such as a drinking straw, the piercing point being defined by a depression formed in the exterior surface of the container wall, but which does not penetrate completely through the wall. The depression is surrounded by an annular ring, which marks its location, and the container walls are preferably made of a plurality of layers of laminated material.

  • Patent number: 4003467
Abstract: There is disclosed a technique for forming a pack from a foldable blank consisting of a compound foil for receiving rod-shaped articles, typically cigarettes. The blank encloses the contents of the pack in a tubular manner, and the front ends overlapping at least partially interconnected flaps are folded in such a way that an inner longitudinal end flap rests against the contents of the pack. Two side end flaps are folded on these longitudinal end flaps, and the second outer longitudinal end flaps are folded on the side end flaps and the first inner longitudinal end flaps. The sides of the longitudinal end flaps facing toward each other and the edge region of the inwardly folded side end flaps are connected together in a sealed manner by means of a straight bonded or adhesive strip which extends over the width of the pack in the half portion of the front face facing toward the outer longitudinal end flap.

  • Patent number: 3939972
Abstract: A pouch is formed from a section of coextruded polymer tubing, which is pressed flat, folded over along a longitudial axis, and heat sealed along the sides, whereby the opposed walls of the pouch are each composed of two thicknesses of the coextruded material. The outermost laminate of the coextruded tubing that form the innermost and outermost surfaces of the pouch walls is composed of a polymer, such as low density polyethylene, which can be rapidly and reliably heat sealed in the formation of the pouch, with the outermost surface being suitable for printing. The inner laminate, which is encapsulated by the outer laminate, is composed of one of a group of polymers which have relatively poor heat sealing properties but otherwise provide toughness, puncture resistance, gas and vapor barrier properties or coloration to the pouch, such as polyamides, ionomers, pigmented polyolefins and medium and high density polyethylenes.
