Abstract: There is provided a case (1) for a device (22) comprising a sleeve portion (4) having a sleeve opening (17), a closure portion (6), and a hinge (8) connecting the closure portion (6) to the sleeve portion (4) adjacent the sleeve opening (17). A stylus cavity is formed within the sleeve portion. The opening of the stylus cavity is adjacent the sleeve opening. The hinge (8) is adapted to allow the closure portion (6) to move from a first position away from the sleeve opening and stylus cavity opening to allow the device (22) to be inserted into the sleeve portion (4) and the stylus to be inserted into the stylus cavity and a second position where the closure portion (6) is positionable over an end of the device (22) and over the stylus cavity opening.

Abstract: A container adapted to receive an electronic cigarette is configured to obscure the fact that an electronic cigarette is contained within. The container is provided with an open ended receptacle to slidably insert an electronic cigarette. The outer surface of the receptacle is provided with ornamentality to appear to be a surrogate device, such as a writing utensil, a flashlight, or a laser pointer. Alternative embodiments provide for an adapter to enable the container to function as the surrogate device while containing the electronic cigarette.

Abstract: A portable cigar case includes a body having at least one cavity for receiving and releasably retaining a cigar. A cap is releasably connected to the body. The cap when in an open condition provides access to the cigar. A moisture retainer is provided in one of the body or the cap. The moisture retainer provides a source of moisture to maintain a humidity level of the cigar when the cap is in a closed condition with respect to the body. A vial containing a drinkable fluid is retained by one of the body or the cap. The vial is made of a transparent or semitransparent material such that the fluid in the vial is visible to a user. A viewing window created in the cigar case is aligned with the vial such that the fluid in the vial is visible through the viewing window.

Also disclosed is a method of packaging smokeless tobacco by combining a package with a flavor patch disposed inside the package, the flavor patch comprising a flavor and an adsorbent, so that the flavor patch resides in an interior of the package; and adding smokeless tobacco to the package with the flavor patch.

Abstract: Provided is a slim-type dual case including two slim cases. The two slim cases include upper hinged lids and pack-shaped main bodies. The two slim cases are connected to each other along a horizontal edge of upper surfaces of the hinged lids such that the two slim cases are folded along the horizontal edge to face each other or the two slim cases are unfolded along the horizontal edge to bring the upper surfaces of the hinged lids of the of the two slim cases into contact with each other. According to the slim-type dual case of the present invention, the slim-type dual case has uniqueness when on display for sales with the slim cases forming a straight line shape. Also, the slim-type dual case augments advertising effect by utilizing side surfaces of the slim cases as advertising areas, and maintains freshness of contents in the slim case which is not opened yet by storing the contents separately.

Abstract: A package or container for holding two or more types or brands of smoking articles, such as cigarettes, having a generally rectangular shape with two openings on opposite sides of the container and a method of making the same is disclosed. The container has two lids, a body, and a separation member that divides the container into two or more compartments, each filled with smoking articles. The lids are made of metal and are hinged to the body on opposite ends of the container using strap hinges made of a paper or foil laminate, and contain printed information such as text and logos. The separation member includes raised portions to hold the smoking articles securely within the compartments and each compartment is sealed with a layer of film that may be pulled up and off of the container compartment using a tab attached to the sealing layer.

Abstract: Smoking articles, such as filter cigarettes, are packaged in a metal box which is curved to a shape that conforms to the curvature of the human body so that the box can be comfortably carried in a shirt or pant pocket. The metal box comprises a lid and a four sided tray. The lid and the tray have rolled lips which interengage to mechanically and slidably retain the lid to the tray. The lid covers the open front of the tray and is slidable along an arcuate path corresponding to the radius of curvature of the lid to selectively open or close the front of the tray. The lid of the box includes an abutment that prevents the lid of the box from being completely removed unless additional force is applied to push the abutment past the rear wall of the tray.

Abstract: A package (10) can support separate groups of cigarettes (12, 13) by an inner frame (14) which has a central fold or pleat (28) to locate the groups. A common single barrier layer wrapper (16) surrounds the groups. The package (10) may be contained in a sleeve-like shell (240) to form a packet similar to a slide and shell packet. The packet is constructed from a blank which is of a configuration which is symmetrical about the longitudinal centerline thereof. The upper lid is formed, in conventional fashion, of specifically lid panels of the blank, whereas the lower lid is formed of portions of what in a conventional single hinge lid packet are body panels. In order for the second lid to be moved from its closed position on the first opening thereof, front and side panels of the lid are separated at lines of weakening from bounding body panels.

Abstract: An improved combination portable ash receptacle and saver for cigars with an area for a cigar cutter, 20, and matches, 16, all in a hinged, two part case* consisting of a top, 2, and a bottom, 4, that shut tightly together via a built-in latch. The top portion of the latch, 6, located on the top of the case, catches firmly on the corresponding bottom part of the latch, 8, located directly beneath on the bottom half of the case. The hinge, 30, is located on the opposite side of the latch and is durable in order to accommodate frequent use. The interior of the case is divided into 6 compartments via two ribs in each half, one rib running the length of the case on the top, 24, and 34 on the bottom, and another rib dissects it perpendicularly in each half, 10 on the bottom and 26 on the top. This creates three compartments in the top portion, or lid, and three more in the bottom.

Abstract: A smoker's box has a base with sidewalls and end walls attached to it forming a boxy structure. Panels divide the boxy structure into compartments for holding cigarettes and other articles needed by a smoker. A lid has a top panel hingedly connected to one end wall and has a downwardly extending lip for engaging another end wall to inhibit air infiltration to help keep the cigarettes fresh. The lid contains a cover for the ashtray which engages the ashtray when the lid is closed to prevent ashes from spilling.

Abstract: A carrying case 10 for tobacco products including a housing unit 11, a liner unit 12, and a latch unit 13. The housing unit 11 comprises a housing member 20 having two housing segments 21, 22 provided with central recesses 24 which define a central housing chamber 25 and wherein the liner unit 12 includes two thermally insulated liner segments 31, 32 dimensioned to accommodate at least one unsmoked tobacco product 100, as well as the ashes and butt of the tobacco product after it has been smoked.

Abstract: A re-usable aroma releasant is provided on a package of tobacco product such as cigarettes, pipe tobacco, fine cut tobacco and the like. The aroma releasant is activated to release aroma every time the package is opened. The packages comprises a tobacco product containment portion and a tobacco product containment closure portion. The closure portion is removed from the containment portion to gain access to the tobacco product. The aroma releasant may have a peel seal connecting the containment portion and the closure portion. The peel seal seals the aroma in the substrate reservoir provided on the package. The peel seal is peeled from the substrate reservoir to permit opening of the package and simultaneously releasing aroma from the reservoir. The peel seal reseals the reservoir on closure of the package. A re-usable aroma releasant is provided where every time the smoker opens the package, fresh aroma is released.

Abstract: A method for forming an aluminum cigarette package includes the step of cutting elliptical blanks from an aluminum sheet and shaping the blanks by progressive drawing operations into a lid and a body. The lid and body are joined by a flexible label that serves as a hinge that allows the lid to be pivoted relative to the body to open and close the pack. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, a drawn aluminum body is provided with a flat cap member having an aperture and a resealable closure. The invention includes a metal package made by the method of the invention.

Abstract: Microfluidic devices and systems, and particularly, microfluidic devices that are easier to handle by the operator, without damaging, contaminating or otherwise fouling, as a result of manual contact with the device. These microfluidic devices and systems include manual handling structures, to allow handling of the small scale devices with minimal potential for fouling as a result of manual contact with the device.

Abstract: A time-locked cigarette case has time-controlled locking mechanism which is manually adjustable by the user and also has a first latch rod which normally retains the case in a closed condition and a second latch rod which moves to retain the case in a closed condition if the first latch rod is jolted to an open position so as to prevent the case from being opened by jolting before the manually set time delay has expired.

Within the double pack, the individual hinge-lid packs (10, 11) are separated from one another approximately centrally by means of bottom walls (34, 35). The bottom walls (34, 35) are parts (bottom tabs 67) of the collar (36, 37).

The bottom walls (34, 35) are parts (bottom tabs 67) of the collar (36, 37).

Abstract: A cigarette carton comprising two half-carton sections, each containing five cigarette packs, which may be sold as one standard ten-pack cigarette carton or may be separated and sold as individual half-cartons. The dual half-carton configuration permits the use of existing tax-stamping machines without any modifications. The dual half-carton unit is formed from a single blank and is detachably connected along a perforated line running along the top of the interior walls of each half-carton section, extending from one side wall to the other. Each half-carton section contains a top closure attached to the external hull that may be closed to encase the five cigarette packs in that half-carton section by tucking a tuck portion into the interior of the box along the inside of that half-carton section's interior wall. The top portion of the interior walls may be folded away from each half-carton section to which they are attached to create a space in which each tuck portion may be inserted.

Abstract: A box for smoking articles having closures at both the top and bottom of the box. The box is provided with a divider substantially midway of the box dividing the box into two compartments. The divider is transversely disposed between front, back, and side panels of the box. Smoking articles are disposed on opposite sides of the divider. Cigarettes contained in the box would be about one-half the length of the box, each cigarette in one compartment of the box being in axial alignment with a cigarette in the other compartment, wherein one-half of the smoking articles are removable through the top closure and the other half are removable through the bottom closure.

Abstract: A hinged top cigarette box is provided. The box has an inner sleeve nested inside an outer sleeve. Preferably both the inner sleeve member and the outer sleeve member are formed from the same laminate blank. The outer sleeve member has a cover member formed therein. The cover member opens and closes by the use of a flexural hinge. Alternatively, the hinged top box can be formed by separate laminate blanks. Plugs may be used to close the top and bottom portion of the hinged top box to hold the shape of the hinged top box and to prevent cigarettes or loose tobacco from falling therethrough.

Abstract: A package for cigarettes and the like includes an article container box having an open top through which the cigarettes are removed from the container box. The package further includes two side box sections having facing open sides. The two side box sections symmetrically enclose the container box when in a closed position. The two side box sections are hinged together at the juncture of their floors for pivotal movement in a fan-like movement between a closed position covering the open top of the container box and an open position uncovering the open top of the container box. The container box and each of the side box sections include interacting stop flanges which limits the pivotal movement of side box sections, when in the open position, to an open-most position whereat each of the side box section still receives a portion of the container box.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a cigarette case formed as a single structure from a suitable plastic material and having three wall sections hingedly interconnected so as to be folded along the cooperating hinge members defined by an integrally formed web member. The three wall sections provide an elongated rear wall having a plurality of elongated contiguous channels, a lower front wall having matching contiguous channels that form elongated compartments with the channels of the rear wall when in a closed mode. An upper front-wall member for access is formed having aligned matching channels which, when closed, provide a substantially sealed cigarette case. A first latching arrangement is provided between the rear and lower front walls, and a second latching arrangement is provided between the upper and lower front walls.

Abstract: A container for holding in an orderly assembly objects such as writing instruments, tools, cigarettes and other similar objects, has a pair of substantially identically shaped covers provided with opposed peripheral rims, a cover pivoting means adjacent each pair of opposing rims of said covers to mount the covers pivotally together onto a receptacle to form said container to fold or close and to unfold or open. The rims have a combined depth at least equal to the width of the receptacle to accommodate it in the closed position of the covers. The container has at least one pivotable receptacle for holding at least one of said objects, said receptacle having part of said pivoting means and a bottom surface adjoining said pivoting means, said receptacle being mounted between the rims of the said covers to said pivoting means. On opening the container the receptacle is automatically erected and exposed for ease of handling of the articles and visual inspection.
