Means To Hold Article Hanger Or Support Patents (Class 206/279)
  • Patent number: 5628398
Abstract: An anthropomorphic travel system includes a fillable module, the shape of which approximates the upper shoulder area of a human torso, enabling a coat or like garment to be carried over and along with the module so as to minimize wrinkling of the garment. In the preferred embodiment this module is multi-compartmentalized, and includes a bottom portion with a pair of spaced-apart hooks which extend downwardly therefrom, the hooks being adapted to releasably grasp the bottom member of a clothes hanger to carry a garment secured thereto. The module also includes a back surface from which there extends downwardly a flexible, compartmentalized panel such that even when the module and panel with overdraping garment(s) are covered with an outer bag, the entire system may be folded in half lengthwise and secured in that state for compact transport while continuing to minimize wrinkling of the garment(s).

  • Patent number: 5624026
Abstract: A novel garment holding device for use with various types of luggage comprising a substantially cylindrical hollow tube about which suits and other garments can be completely wrapped, a fabric cover for holding garments securely about the outside surface of the tube, and a flexible hanger which is capable of holding suits and other garments against the outside of the tube while being flexible enough to conform to the curvature of the tube. A fabric cover wraps around the garments and the tube and holds the garments securely against the outer surface of the tube. Because the garments will be rolled instead of folded, wrinkling of the garments will be reduced. The hollow center of the cylinder is utilized to carry bulky and awkward shaped objects such as shoes and shaving or makeup kits. The tube, when holding a garment wrapped around its outer surface, can be carried inside any luggage of appropriate size.

  • Patent number: 5622255
Abstract: An improved garment-bag and hanger, used by travelers to organize, store, secure, and transport garments between various locations. The "SuitFolio" is a portfolio for either suits or dresses, resembling an artist's portfolio in design and function. The overall book-like concept for the "SuitFolio" enables each garment to be stored and accessed on one single `Page` in a manner similar to that which an artist would store and present their artwork via their portfolio. The uniqueness of the "SuitFolio" lies in its innovative, built-in hanger-system, which floats freely within a page-like covering, and is attached to the inside shell of the "SuitFolio" by means of spiral binding; thus enabling each `Page` to turn without complication. In addition, garments stored and transported within the "SuitFolio" are folded in a longitudinal manner, unlike conventional garment-bags, which fold garments in the unnatural, latitudinal fashion; thereby facilitating undesirable wrinkling of such garments.

  • Patent number: 5575391
Abstract: A luggage piece and a method for packing and transporting the same are provided. A first compartment has an interior for carrying first items. A second compartment is provided for carrying second items. The second items are distinguishable from the first items in that the second compartment includes a hanging device for hanging articles from the hanging device. The second compartment, therefore, acts as a garment carrier and the first compartment acts as a standard luggage compartment. The first compartment and the second compartment are integrally formed as a single luggage piece for simple packing and unpacking of articles as well as simplified transport of the luggage piece following packing of the articles. An extendable arm having a handle and wheels is provided for transport of the luggage piece.

  • Patent number: 5566797
Abstract: A luggage case has a generally rectangular prismatic configuration of a size and shape similar to a flight bag when in the closed position, and presents a garment bag when in the expanded or open position. The luggage case comprises a support structure and a flexible panel connected to the support structure which extends laterally from the support structure to expose the interior of both the panel and the support structure. A selective attachment device connects the panel to the support structure to close the luggage case, forming the prismatic configuration. A support piece is connected to the interior of the panel to hold packed articles in the appropriate position. A packing pouch is connected to the support structure to extend from the interior of the case opposite of the panel when the case is opened. The packing pouch folds into the interior of the case and overlaps the packed articles when the case is in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 5505297
Abstract: A garment bag of the type having an elongate body substantially formed of flexible fabric or sheet material, and defining a cavity with a hanger support at the top for receiving hanging clothes on hangers. The bag folds double on itself for transport, and includes a pair of rigid wall portions which when the bag is folded double on itself are urged forcefully together. These rigid wall portions substantially immobilize the clothing items therebetween to greatly reduce creasing and wrinkling of the clothing items which would otherwise result from their shifting about in transit. The garment bag also includes features preserving the efforts of careful packing during folding and unfolding of the bag to further reduce clothes wrinkling. Also, the garment bag includes a specially configured toiletries kit which by its shape and placement in the folded bag further contributes to a reduction of clothes wrinkling.

The top is constructed from panels folded to form a peak and gables. The top includes a slot allowing passage of the neck of a hanging hook of a garment bag or of clothes hangers to protrude out from the box, and a hole spaced from the slot allowing re-entry of the end of the hanging hook or hanger. When the hanging hook or hanger are properly installed, the garment bag or clothes hangers are securely suspended in the box. • Patent number: 5330049
Abstract: A garment bag is provided with a single reinforcing member which extends across the top end of the bag. A carrying handle, a hanger for hanging the bag from a support, and a trolley for hanging garments within the garment bag are all connected directly to the reinforcing member so that the reinforcing member supports the entire weight of the garment bag and its contents both when the bag is hanging in an extended configuration from a support and when the bag is being carried from place to place in a folded configuration. A stiffening member which extends across the width of the bag in the bottom portion thereof and which lies adjacent the top end of the bag when the bag is in a folded configuration prevents the bottom portion of the bag from sagging to present a neat appearance. The hanger bar assembly has end holders mounted on opposed walls of the shipping container, and a hanger bar extended between the end holders. The hold-down bar holds the hangers on the hanger bar, being pivotally mounted on the hanger bar at a location intermediate the end holders. The ends of the hold-down bar are held in the end holders when the hold-down is in a position substantially parallel to the hanger bar.

Abstract: A trolley for suspending and retaining the hooked ends of clothes hangers in a piece of luggage such as a garment bag includes gripping structures which contact the hooked ends of the hangers. The gripping structures incorporate an arrangement for creating a greater resistance against withdrawing the hanger ends from between the opposed gripping structures than for moving the hanger ends into the trolley. The effect is preferably established by a rib configuration integral with the gripping structures that creates a pawl-like resistance. The pawl-like resistance retains the hanger ends in the trolley and inhibits them from unintentional withdrawal from the trolley.

  • Patent number: 4640414
Abstract: A locking trolley for gripping and locking the hooked ends of hangers in a garment bag includes a C-shaped frame member and a jaw member extending forward from the rear of the C-shaped frame member. Gripping pads for gripping the hooked ends of hangers are located between the lower horizontal portion of the C-shaped frame member and the jaw member. A locking arrangement operatively moves the jaw member toward the lower horizontal portion of the frame member to cause the gripping pads to grip the hanger ends and also locks the jaw member in the hanger gripping position. The locking arrangement preferably takes the form of a locking lever pivotably connected to the forward end of the jaw member. The locking lever pivots between the jaw member and the upper horizontal portion of the frame member to hold the jaw member in the locked position. To release the locked relationship the locking lever is grasped and pivoted between the jaw member and the upper horizontal portion of the frame member.
