Abstract: A case can hold a disc that has a central hole and a predetermined outside diameter. The case has a pair of wings with a hinge joint for allowing the wings to swing between an open and a closed condition. The wings in the closed position are adapted to releasably hold the disc at a predetermined disc location between the wings with clearance at the periphery of the disc. This clearance allows loading and unloading of the disc in the open condition without interference. The wings have at least a pair of members for encaging the disc in order to impede removal of the disc in any direction around any one of the members. In the closed condition the members extend from the inwardly facing surface of one of the wings, transversely past the predetermined disc location, to a position at the inwardly facing surface of the other wing, in order to prevent removal of the disc. The pair of members are positioned to avoid overhanging the disc.

Abstract: The apparatus comprises a base portion and at least two arms resiliently cantilevered from the base portion, the inner ends of the arms forming a button-like member and each having a projection for engaging on the outwardly facing surface of a compact disk held on the apparatus. Depression of the button-like member causes the projections to move towards each other until their engagement on the disk is released. An upstand surrounds the disk and is positioned close thereto so as to restrict movement of the disk within its own plane. the inner ends of the arms may be shaped to reduce the risk of forces applied thereto in the plane of the disk causing the disk to be released. Finger recesses in the upstand may be formed so as to inhibit access to the edge of a disk whilst held by the apparatus but provide access thereto once the disk has been released. 3-arm release mechanisms are also described.

Abstract: A disc case comprises a pair of opposite latches in a container member each having a latched piece coupled to an upward free end of the latch being extended outwardly and a flexible bridge interconnected the free ends of the latches for forming an integral member. In loading/unloading a disc simply press latches down to cause free ends of latches to draw toward each other uniformly with bridge bent downwardly. This eliminates conventional problems of different inward moving distance of latches, latched pieces squeezed by disc, and disc scrape or even damage when a base of either latch is broken.

Abstract: A retaining device for a disc-shaped item of recorded media includes at least one arm that projects through the central opening of the disc with a locking finger that engages the upper edge of the disc. The disc is released when the user pushes downwardly on the retaining device to collapse the arm through the central opening of the disc to release the disc. The downward force on the device forces portions of the retaining device below the bottom wall of the container. When the downward force is released, the arms engage the lower inner edge of the disc and hold the disc on top of the retaining device. The invention also provides a disc-holding page that snaps into the lid of the container to allow a second disc to be stored.
