The retaining key is movable between locked and released configurations, while in the locked configuration the retaining key retains a portion of the product and while in the released configuration the retaining key retracts to facilitate removal of the product from the container body.

Abstract: An economical package including an inner sliding piece assembled inside of one or more outer sleeves, where the inner sliding piece may contain a gift card, loyalty card, product, or promotional messages, and the card, product or messages can be revealed by pulling the inner sliding piece at least partially out of the outer sleeve. The package assembly can provide differentiation, protection, consumer information, and an ability to reuse the package for presentation of the card or information.

Abstract: Protective mailer capable of being processed by postal processing equipment without causing damage to the article held by the mailer. The pocket holding the article inside the mailer is offset relative to one edge, when folded, by a distance sufficient to prevent damage when the mailer is oriented and processed. The mailer may include a resizing flap that, when unfolded and deployed, changes the dimensions of the mailer so that the mailer is processed by the postal processing equipment as a non-letter or flat mailpiece.

Abstract: A case for holding optical discs includes a primary blank formed of foldable material and having at least six interconnected panels. In certain of the panels of the primary blank a U-shaped cutout is formed, and in certain other panels a disc access cutout is formed. The panels are folded to form a folded primary blank. The folded primary blank is joined to an end blank, which is also folded to form a folded end blank, the folded primary blank and the folded end blank being joined together to define a folded composite blank. The folded composite blank is positioned between a front cover and a back cover of a cover piece.

Abstract: A package for holding an item, and a method of making the same are provided. The package includes a plurality of page spread blanks, a front endsheet blank and a back endsheet blank. The blanks include a disc receiving opening and a pair of disc securing lugs. The disc securing lugs are adapted to contact an outer periphery of an item placed into the disc receiving opening and removed from the disc receiving opening. The front endsheet blank is connected to one of the plurality of page spread blanks and the back endsheet blank is connected along to another of the plurality of page spread blanks.

Each perforation may be adapted to hold a software medium. The media storage flap may be foldable across the second panel. First and second sealer flaps may be connected to at least two edges of the first panel. The first and second sealer flaps may be adapted to fold over and attach to the enclosure and the media storage flap, thereby holding the media storage flap adjacent to and substantially coplanar with the second panel.

The lock is displaceable between a locked position wherein the lock engages the media disc(s) to positively secure the media disc(s) in the media well(s) when the media package is closed and an unlocked position wherein the media disc(s) may be freely removed from the media well(s) when the media package is open.

Abstract: A package made from a biodegradable material, such as paperboard, utilizes multi-layered sheets of relatively thin material which can be cut to desired shapes relatively inexpensively and folded into adjacent layers which are adhesively attached to one another to form the package. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the package defines a book-like package having an outer envelope with one side defining a sleeve for receiving a disk and an opposite side which receives a laminated multi-layered holder having a pocket in the shape of a memory chip/card or other electronic component to be held therein.

The CD-holding section according to one aspect of the invention is generally square shaped, with a width greater than the diameter of the CD. Two curved slits are cut into the CD-holding section, the arc of the slits corresponding to the curvature of the CD.

Abstract: A compact disc storage and protective enclosure for securely positioning a disc having a flat circular shape. The enclosure incorporates a unitary element comprising of a single piece of durable and flexible material having a back section, a left section that folds across the back section, a right section that folds across both the left and back sections, a bottom section that folds across both the right and left sections, and a top section that folds across the bottom section. A disc is positioned within the enclosure that also includes a gap having a convex shape into which each of the left and right sections can flex in order to absorb an impact.

Abstract: A merchandise storage container having a sleeve and a pair of pull out merchandise holders that are both stored in the same sleeve but may be pulled out to extended positions from opposite sides of the sleeve. The sleeve is configured to allow the two holders to be pulled out to their extended positions simultaneously. The sleeve is also configured to allow the holders to be pushed back to their retracted positioned simultaneously without interfering with one another. The sleeve is configured to prevent the holders from jamming during the operation of the container.

Abstract: The present invention provides a media storage case that is configured to resiliently hold up to six media discs on a single hub. In one construction, a first panel and a second panel are joined by a hinge and configured to securely hold up to six media discs on a common hub through transit and distribution, using a cantilevered disc retention finger and/or a spine disc retention fin. The media storage case can hold multiple media discs and accompanying literature, while having a minimized case thickness.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a card assembly comprising a cover and a data storage means. The cover comprises a back sheet, a front sheet and an intermediate sheet, which are integral and connected by one folding line area respectively. The intermediate sheet has a through hole adapted to the data storage means and the data storage means is placed in the through hole. The back sheet, the front sheet and the intermediate sheet are folded together along the folding line areas and permanently attached together, wherein the data storage means is enclosed in a pocket. The back sheet has a tear portion, which is operable to open the pocket and expose a part of the data storage means for enabling removal of the data storage means from the pocket and reinsertion thereof into the pocket. The present invention also relates to a blank for a cover for such a card assembly and to method for manufacturing such a card assembly.

In another configuration, the tab is folded over itself twice to create three layers of tab material between the inner surface of the upper wall of the sleeve and the disc holding hub.

Abstract: A case for portable electronic device has a set of substantially rigid opposing faces mounted on a hinge that fold together to enclose the device. An internal electrical connection between the device and the case is used to provide an electrical access point on the exterior of the case. The external electrical connection is accomplished through a passive electrical connector positioned on the hinge that holds the opposing faces together. Additional active electronics and batteries may also be positioned in the hinge such that the case can be operationally linked with the device contained in the case. Since many portable electronic devices are dimensioned to be carried in pockets or purses, limiting the size of a protective carrying case can be crucial to gaining consumer acceptance. The case is particularly well adapted for use with a digital music player.

The trays are arranged into a stack, such that their respective side hinging surfaces line up with each other to form a composite hinging surface. A label is positioned over the composite hinging surface. The label is affixed to the composite hinging surface, such that the label provides a hinge between each tray in the stack and at least one adjacent tray.

Abstract: A package for storing and/or shipping discs has at least one section with a first panel, a second panel and at least one intermediate panel, the intermediate panel being positioned between the first panel and the second panel, where the first and second panels each include at least one opening for receiving a disc and the intermediate panel is solid in at least the area between the first and second panels below the openings where the discs are inserted. The package includes a fastener between the second panel and the intermediate panel positioned above the disc receiving opening on the second panel and a fastener between the first panel and the intermediate panel at a terminal edge of the first panel above the disc receiving opening on the first panel.

The case has a movable holder and a fixed holder arranged inside, both of which individually define a circular arc. The movable holder is rotatable about its middle, and the rear of the fixed holder is fixed to the case so that the front portion of the fixed holder can flex. With the lever on the movable holder moved towards the bottom of the case so that the movable holder is rotated towards the front opening, a disc can be stored by inserting it through the front opening and causing the movable holder to rotate backwards and the front portion of the fixed holder to flex away.

Abstract: A disc sleeve is provided for allowing safe storage of discs and/or information articles. The sleeve may include a disc access opening formed on a wall of the sleeve and an information article access opening along an edge of the sleeve. The sleeve also may include a disc retention joint to allow for secure storage of a disc when the sleeve is turned upside down, shaken, or handled during manufacturing. The sleeve may be designed to include a use verification joint to verify whether the disc has been removed from the sleeve.

Abstract: A printable sheet (10) includes a blank (12) for an envelope having a central body panel (14), a top flap, a pair of opposing side panels, and a bottom flap (18). The envelope blank is capable of being removed from the printable sheet and folded along weakened lines to form a secure sleeve for holding various items. The sheet on which the envelope blank is formed is capable of being placed in a printer to have images and/or indicia printed thereon. The envelope may also include integral index tabs for indentifying and archiving the contents of the folded envelope. The top flap, bottom flap, and opposing side panels are adapted to interconnect to secure items in the envelope.

Abstract: A storage case (1) for a compact disc (2) comprises an outer shell (4) within which an inner carrier (5) for storing the compact disc (2) is slideable between an open and a closed position. The compact disc (2) is stored in a disc storing area (20) between a lower support plate (15) and an upper retaining member (19) of the inner carrier (5). Guide plates (25, 26) slideably guide the compact disc (2) into and out of the disc storing area (20). Resilient disc engaging clips (30) on a rear end wall (17) of the inner carrier (5) resiliently urges the compact disc (2) against corresponding abutment members (33) on the front end wall (16) for securing the compact disc (2) against sideward sliding from the disc storing area (20). The combination of the disc engaging clips (30) and the guide plates (25, 26) avoid the need for a central locating spigot for engaging a central opening of the compact disc (2).

Abstract: The invention is a case for receiving at least one data storage disk. The case is comprised of two cover members and a base. The case opens by sliding one or both cover members away from each other to allow removal of the disk from the base. The present improved DVD or CD case has very few components which are characterized by great simplicity whereby low manufacturing and assembly cost is achieved, without sacrificing reliability and resistance to breakage or malfunctioning. The case can be accommodated in existing racks, or holders and displays.

Abstract: A hanging file system for compact disks and other small planar objects is provided. The system includes hanging file folders that are shrunken compared to standard letter sized or legal sized hanging file folders. The hanging file folder has open sides and two permanently fixed hangers. The hangers are separated by a fixed length which is less than 11 inches. An envelope can be used in conjunction with the hanging file folders to protect each compact disk stored in the hanging file folder. Thus, several CDs in their envelopes can be accommodated in each hanging file folder without risk of scratching. An identifying tab and label can be provided for each folder. A printed insert piece can be included in each folder along with compact disks. An adapter can be used to turn a standard letter or legal filing drawer into a drawer for holding at least two rows of hanging files for CDs. Alternatively, a portable container is provided sized for carrying the shrunken hanging file folders and their CDs.

Abstract: By enlarging a range, in which an insertion and extraction port is opened, optical disks as stored are made easy to turn over to enable readily retrieve the optical disks as stored. A storage casing includes a bottom plate, a front plate provided on the bottom plate through a first hinge composed of a first bent portion along a first side of the bottom plate, a back plate provided on the bottom plate through a second hinge composed of a second bent portion along a second side opposed to the first side, and a pair of side plates provided on the back plate. When the front plate turns through the first hinge, it turns until engaging parts of turning pieces of the front plate engage with first turning restriction portions, and when the back plate turns through the second hinge, it turns until restriction portions of the side plates engage with second turning restriction portions. The front plate and the back plate are opened outward to enlarge an insertion and extraction port.
