Surgical Or Wound Type Patents (Class 206/339)
  • Patent number: 4228895
Abstract: A magazine tape is described comprising a flat flexible belt and a plurality of units attached to the belt. Each unit contains a hemostatic clip. Each unit consists of, in succession, a parallel aligned pair of: leading tabs; side retaining tabs and apex retaining tabs; and feeding and positioning tabs. The retaining tabs contain a groove adjacent the sides of the belt to accomodate the sides of a hemostatic clip. The apex retaining tabs have a contour about equal to the clip apex contour. The feeding and positioning tabs have flanged upper portions parallel with the longitudinal direction of the belt and extending away from the apex retaining tabs. The flanged portions decrease in thickness away from the feeding and positioning tabs.

  • Patent number: 4108306
Abstract: A cartridge for feeding pairs of clips simultaneously in laterally spaced apart relation between a pair of clamping jaws whereby the outermost pair of clips are clamped onto an elongate member such as a vessel, in which the cartridge is formed with a pair of laterally spaced apart slots for holding a plurality of clips and a slide for endwise displacement of the clips within the slots and a spring clip for permitting the slide to move forwardly in feeding relation while resisting backward displacement.

  • Patent number: 4076120
Abstract: A cartridge for holding hemostatic clips comprises an outer casing and an elongated body positioned within the casing. The body includes a plurality of sets of pairs of walls on each side of a longitudinal line along the body. Each pair of walls defines a clip-receiving compartment between the walls, and each compartment is transversely aligned with a compartment on the other side of the longitudinal line so that each end of a generally U-shaped hemostatic clip can be received in one of the transversely aligned compartments. The walls of each pair of walls are flexible away from each other so that a clip can be removed by inserting the jaws of applying forceps between the walls and over the clip to flex the walls apart.

  • Patent number: 3972418
Abstract: A laminated molded sterilizable package for sutures is constructed of a first molded sheet and a second cover sheet. The molded sheet has a centrally located needle chamber recess and a long, narrow suture channel extending outward of and in a generally spiral path around the needle chamber. In a preferred embodiment, the suture channel is characterized by having at least one curve in a reverse direction from the general direction of the spiral. The package is opened by peeling a portion of the cover sheet from the molded sheet to uncover the needle chamber and an adjacent length of the suture channel. The package is suitable for use with heavy denier monofilament sutures which may be withdrawn from the package singly or in groups. Sutures delivered from the package are characterized by having only gentle bends with no loops or coils and are suitable for use with little or no further straightening.
