For Folded Sheetlike Article Patents (Class 206/494)
  • Patent number: 6015045
Abstract: A package for containing hygienic articles. The package has a dispensing aperture covered by a refastenably closable flap. The flap overlaps the dispensing aperture, to minimize external contamination. The aperture is made by a cut-out, leaving an opening in the material used to form the package. A separate retaining band is added to decrease the size of the opening so that the desired overlap can be maintained independent of the cut-out used to form the opening or the flap. The package is intact as presented to the user, and may completely enclose the hygienic articles after the first use of a hygienic article.

  • Patent number: 6012572
Abstract: This invention is directed to a facial tissue dispensing system which is a portable, flexible pack for dispensing large tissues. The portable, flexible pack container is thin yet contains regular-sized or large-sized tissues for cleaning in the alternative to paper towels or rags. Before being placed into the container, each of the tissues is first reversibly folded three times onto itself to decrease the size of the tissue in first or lateral dimension and is second reversibly folded onto itself at least one time to decrease the size of the tissue in a second or longitudinal dimension, which is generally perpendicular to the first dimension. The tissues are folded such that they unfold as they pass through the tissue dispensing opening of the container. The tissue dispensing opening may be covered by a resealable closure flap. In this manner, tissues are kept from the environment to keep them clean and dry.

  • Patent number: 6009689
Abstract: A package of a continuous strip of material comprises a plurality of parallel side by side stacks each containing a length of the strip which is folded back and forth such that each folded portion of the stack is folded relative to the next portion about a line transverse to the strip and such that the side edges of the strip portions are aligned. The strip is continuous through each stack and is connected by a splice from the end of one stack to beginning of the next stack. The package is compressed to reduce the height of the stacks and maintained in the compressed condition by an evacuated sealed bag. The preferred package arrangement uses the package for pay off of the strip in an orientation in which the stacks are horizontal The spliced connection portions are flat against opposed sides of the package.

  • Patent number: 5699912
Abstract: A container for wetted tissues comprises a container body, a stationary lid member and a movable lid member each molded from a suitable synthetic resin material. The stationary lid member fits on the container body to close an upper opening of the container body and the movable lid member is hinged to the stationary lid member so as to cover an opening formed substantially in a central zone of the stationary lid member through which the wetted tissues will be picked out. Any one of an upper surface of the stationary lid member and an inner surface of the movable lid member is provided with an elastic strip fixed across the hinged portion. As the movable lid member is closed, the elastic strip is curved generally in a U-shape or .OMEGA.-shape within a space defined between the inner surface of the movable lid member and the upper surface of the stationary lid member and thereby charged with an elastic energy biasing the movable lid member to be opened.

  • Patent number: 5699911
Abstract: A package for containing hygienic articles. The package has a dispensing aperture covered by a refastenably closable flap. The flap overlaps the dispensing aperture, to minimize external contamination. The aperture is made by a cut-out, leaving an opening in the material used to form the package. A separate retaining band is added to decrease the size of the opening so that the desired overlap can be maintained independent of the cut-out used to form the opening or the flap. The package is intact as presented to the user, and may completely enclose the hygienic articles after the first use of a hygienic article.

  • Patent number: 5695065
Abstract: The invention provides a bag dispenser comprising a container having a back plate intended to be attached to a vertical surface, and a cover which can be opened for loading the container with a plurality of bags and which has an opening through which the bags can be dispensed one after the other. A dividing member is provided within the container around which dividing member the bags can be folded, and the cover is hinged to the bottom of the back plate during loading of the container, whereby the bags become folded around the dividing member by the cover as the cover is closed. The invention also provides a method of dispensing bags one after the other from the container, the bags being loaded into the container so that they hang substantially vertically of the back plate, and folded around the dividing member by the step of closing the cover.

  • Patent number: 5664677
Abstract: A wiper assembly for use in cleansing a controlled environment. The assembly comprises a generally flat container having therein a plurality of wiper cloths presaturated with a selected cleaning or disinfectant solvent. A top portion of the container defines an opening for wiper cloth removal which may be selectively opened and closed using a flexible adhesive panel. The bottom portion of the container is characterized by a greater rigidity than the rigidity of the top portion. This enhanced rigidity is sufficient to substantially prevent bending of the container during removal of the wiper cloths and closure of the container opening.

  • Patent number: 5642835
Abstract: An improved method is disclosed for forming a strata of overlapping sheets suitable for use in a pop-up dispensing system. The sheets are cut from ribbons having at least one side edge which has a knee-like protrusion, with the opposing side edge being either, substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the ribbon, or having one or more knee-like protrusions formed on the opposing edge. The ribbons are then phased so that the knee-like protrusion on one edge aligns with either the essentially parallel edge of an adjoining ribbon or a knee-like protrusion on the side edge of the adjoining ribbon. Phasing can be accomplished by either, aligning knee-like protrusions on the side edges of adjoining ribbons, or reversing the orientation of the side edges of alternating ribbons. After phasing, the ribbons are overlapped creating a series of predetermined, areas of greatest overlap adjoining areas of least overlap such that successive ribbons are bonded only by the interfacial interaction between ribbons.
