  • Patent number: 8568850
Abstract: A uniformly premixed sealant is extruded into a packaging form and allowed to pressure equilibrate prior to freezing. Upon warming the sealant begins to cure. The storage of the preformed sealant formulation under cold conditions arrests the activity of cure catalysts and accelerators mixed therethrough. The sealant is readily extruded into a preform shape containing a lightweight filler. A release film is provided to avoid contact with the sealant preformed in a shape during application to a substrate.

Abstract: A packaging system for an acidic product and a method for adding the acid product to a water system, wherein the packaging system has a multi-layer packaging film with a water-soluble outer layer and an inner layer comprising a pH-sensitive polymer. The inner layer is stable at the pH of the acidic product and dissolves when exposed to a pH greater than dissolution pH of the inner layer, the dissolution pH being greater than the pH of the acidic product. In one example, the dissolution pH of the inner layer is between 5 to 8. When the pH of the water system reaches the dissolution pH, the product is released to the water system.

  • Patent number: 8500022
Abstract: A packaging system uses marked, specially designed packaging to enable confidential purchasing of consumer goods. Products having a first configuration normally labeled for sale are convertible into a second configuration which conceals the identity of the goods, other than perhaps having a confidentiality brand. The confidentiality package is bar-coded for price and purchase scanning but does not identify the type of good(s) being purchased either at the cash register or on the customer's receipt. The confidentially packaged items are primarily sold at a retail location immediately next to a normally marked, identical (except for the outer packaging shell) item, and have a brief description of what the item is directly under it (Tampons for example) located in the shelf strip next to the re-order shelf tag.

  • Publication number: 20130193026
Abstract: The invention relates to polymer-coated oven board and a closed oxygen impermeable food package formed from it. According to the invention, the coating on the board (1) contains an oxygen barrier layer (7) of polyamide (PA) and a surface layer (8) of polyethylene terephlatae (PET) adhered to it without a binding agent layer between them. The polymer layers (7, 8) have been produced by co-extrusion so that the polyamide layer (7) adheres directly to the board in extrusion. In a closed package according to the invention, the superimposed polyamide and PET layers (7, 8) are located inside the board layer, and on the outer surface of the package there may be a PET layer (9). The package is sealed by heat sealing the PET layers. Polyamide has been selected so that it withstands heat sealing and the heating of the package in an oven.

Abstract: A bag with flexible sidewalls defining an interior volume is provided with leak resistant features that function to absorb and retain liquids. These features include an absorbent-adhesive mixture that may be made from an adhesive and absorbent agents such as a super absorbent polymer. The absorbent-adhesive mixture can be applied on an inner surface of the flexible sidewalls in a location where it is likely to encounter liquids. The leak resistant features can also include a substrate that may be made from a non-woven material that is also applied to the inner surface of the sidewall and can be bonded to the sidewall by the absorbent-adhesive. In various embodiments, the bag can also include odor neutralizing features and/or configured with stretchable sidewalls.

Abstract: A pressure-resistant polyester container having a multilayer structure comprising inner and outer layers of a polyester resin and at least one intermediate layer of a functional resin, wherein in the container body portion, the inner layer of the polyester resin has a crystallinity of not less than 23%, the outer layer thereof has a crystallinity of not less than 18%, the average value of the crystallinity of the inner layer and the crystallinity of the outer layer is not less than 24%. The pressure-resistant polyester container effectively prevents whitening even after the passage of time and features excellent transparency despite of using, as an intermediate layer, a functional resin composition obtained by blending a functional resin with a clay. The invention, further, provides a process for producing the same.
