  • Patent number: 6070591
Abstract: An improved combination portable ash receptacle and saver for cigars with an area for a cigar cutter, 20, and matches, 16, all in a hinged, two part case* consisting of a top, 2, and a bottom, 4, that shut tightly together via a built-in latch. The top portion of the latch, 6, located on the top of the case, catches firmly on the corresponding bottom part of the latch, 8, located directly beneath on the bottom half of the case. The hinge, 30, is located on the opposite side of the latch and is durable in order to accommodate frequent use. The interior of the case is divided into 6 compartments via two ribs in each half, one rib running the length of the case on the top, 24, and 34 on the bottom, and another rib dissects it perpendicularly in each half, 10 on the bottom and 26 on the top. This creates three compartments in the top portion, or lid, and three more in the bottom.

  • Patent number: 4887711
Abstract: A cigarette and matches container has front, rear, bottom and sidewalls forming a box, a lid hinged to a rear wall upper portion for movement between open and closed lid positions, and a panel mounted in parallel confronting relation with the rear wall and defining therewith a channel with a lower opening. A match set is disposed in the channel and has a base with individual matches extending therefrom. One or more pull strips are connected at upper ends to the lid and at lower ends to the match set base so that upon movement of the lid from closed to open position, the pull strip moves relative to the box rear wall to move the match set to a position wherein portions of the matches extend outwardly from the channel for manual grasping by a user. The matches may be secured to the match base with their heads remote from the base so that with the lid in open position the heads extend outwardly from the channel opening.

  • Patent number: 4015769
Abstract: The invention relates to a cigarette box or package in which a three-sided insert is provided at the top of the box which is cut away on the three sides in such manner that the tops of the cigarettes can be seized between the finger and thumb from any two of three directions for removal, thereby preventing mutilation. The lid or cover of the box is hinged to one of the narrower sides of the box and in such manner that it can be tilted to open position with the thumb of one hand while held in such hand, to expose the cutouts in the insert adjacent to the opposite narrower wall, so that the finger and thumb of the other hand can easily remove a cigarette. In one form of the invention, the box is rhomboidal in shape and a pair of diagonally opposite corners are rounded off to provide greater convenience and comfort in holding the box.
