  • Patent number: 7591379
Abstract: A device (10) for sieving and/or mixing is disclosed which includes a base (12) and a container (13) mounted thereon for rotation about an axis which is substantially horizontal. The container has a peripheral wall (14) extending angularly about and longitudinally relative to the axis, and an opening (25) extending longitudinally relative to the axis to provide for movement of material into and out of said space. Means to drive the container angularly about the axis are provided so that any material which is introduced into the container may be processed as required by rotation thereof. The peripheral wall is configured with an internal baffle to prevent material from being delivered when the container is rotated one way, but delivers material from within said space through the opening when the container is moved angularly about its axis in the opposite direction being a predetermined direction of rotation for delivery.

  • Patent number: 6613191
Abstract: Pressurized screen to remove contaminants from a contaminant-containing fibrous paper suspension. Pressurized screen includes a housing, a first screen element, essentially axially symmetric and rotatably mounted within housing, and a second screen element, which is essentially axially symmetric. First and second screen elements are successively arranged in suspension flow direction. At least one intake, coupled to housing, supplies suspension to housing, and at least one accepts outlet, coupled to housing, conveys a part of suspension that passes through the second screen element out of housing. At least one coarse reject outlet is located within housing to remove a part of suspension not passing through first screen element, and at least one fine reject outlet is located within housing to remove a part of suspension not passing through second screen element. First screen element includes conical shape with opening angle (&agr;) between about 10° and 170°.

  • Patent number: 4703860
Abstract: A disk screen, and method wherein the material, such as wood chips for making paper pulp, is screened through a rotary disk screening bed (12) having zones wherein the space between disk slots (20) decreases from zone to zone as the material passes from the inlet end to the outlet end of the screen. Such spaces may range in zones from 8 mm to 6 mm along the screening bed (12).

  • Patent number: 4405454
Abstract: A process for the dewatering and particle classification of solids from suspensions, e.g. coal from a slurry in which the coal is transported, makes use of a dewatering centrifuge having two frustoconical centrifuge drum sections of different inclinations such that in a first filtering zone the particles are preliminarily dewatered and then pass by automigration to the next centrifuge drum at which further dewatering takes place. The suspension on the first sieve surface forms a thin layer classification zone having a thickness up to 5 mm and in which the coarse fraction is retained while the fine fraction is passed. The coarse fraction automigrates to the next sieve surface where it is dewatered and the fine fraction separated out in the thin layer classifying zone is then filtered under pressure in a subsequent stage.

  • Patent number: 4377474
Abstract: An apparatus for separating particulate or lump material by size having a passage for the material, downwardly defined by a plurality of rotationally drivable discs which are arranged in several rows. The discs in one row mesh with clearance between the discs in the nearest adjacent rows on either side, such that together the discs form a screen extending along the passage from an inlet for the material to be screened to an outlet for lumps of the material which are too large to fall through the screen. The principle axes of the disc rows are oriented in the flow direction of the material through the passage and locate the discs in a flat-sided trough-like configuration. The discs are adapted to be driven in such a direction that they impart to the material on the screen a transverse arching movement upwards and towards both sides of the passage, while the material simultaneously moves towards said outlet.

  • Patent number: 4220526
Abstract: A sizing screen provided with feeder means for causing an even distribution of material onto the screen surface. The feeder means comprises a generally spirally shaped plough which urges material over the edge of a generally circular table the distribution of material being substantially uniform over the edge. The plough has a compaction zone for compacting the material so that urging forces exerted by the plough are not absorbed in the material. A chute which can be stepped feeds material onto the table through the plough.
