Patent number: 5322170Abstract: A waste material separating apparatus and method which comprises a frame and a vibratory screening deck or tier within the frame, the screening deck having a plurality of generally parallel, straight rod elements to act as bludgeons on the waste material. The rod elements are removably extended from a transverse rail. Waste material to be separated into a coarse material and a finer material is discharged onto the rod element. The separating apparatus has an eccentric rotating shaft secured to the deck to impart vibratory motion to the rod elements so that the free ends of the vibratory fingers vibrate in a generally vertical direction, and bludgeon and break up the compacted solid waste landfill material. The solid material is progressively moved from the tall to short end of the frame by forward rotary motion of the rotary shaft and falls off the ends of the vibratory rod elements onto the lower tiers to decompact and break up and tumble the waste material.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1992Date of Patent: June 21, 1994Assignee: The Read CorporationInventor: Robert J. Patent number: 4795552Abstract: A horizontal vibrating multi-deck screen apparatus for separating different sizes of materials of generally the same type. The apparatus includes a first or upper screening basket and a second or lower screening basket. The upper screening basket has a feed chute at one end and a discharge chute at the opposite end. Each screening basket has at least one screen deck thereon for conveying and screening material. The two baskets are connected by a spring-type coupling system, including coil springs and fiberglass leaf springs. The two baskets together are supported by known types of support spring systems installed between the upper basket only and a base frame. Hence each basket constitutes one mass and each spring system one spring of a two-mass two-spring system. A pair of shaker motors mounted directly, one on each side, on the lower basket inputs a straight-line sinusoidal exciting force to the system. The exciting force and the spring forces are transmitted to both baskets and induce vibrations.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1987Date of Patent: January 3, 1989Assignee: Telsmith, Inc.Inventors: Jen Yun, Edward H. Patent number: 4237000Abstract: Relatively fine materials are separated from bulky materials by a two-tier screen assembly mounted on springs and shaken by an off balance drive. The screen assembly spans the space between two parallel plates which are joined by staggered crossbeams. An upper screen is supported by longitudinal bars which rest across upper crossbeams, and two lower screens rest on lower crossbeams. The crossbeams are joined by a longitudinal center plate. In use, the forces of heavy weights tending to bend a given crossbeam are transmitted through the center plate to the joined crossbeams to reduce the strain on the single beam.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1979Date of Patent: December 2, 1980Assignee: F. Patent number: 4033865Abstract: A vibratory screening apparatus has a pair of screen cloths in close face to face abutment with the wires of the lower screen cloth generally intersecting the openings of the upper screen cloth to prevent "blinding" of the upper screen cloth by reason of the tendency of the wires of the lower screen cloth to prevent engagement of particles in the upper screen cloth of a size which would tend to clog the openings of the upper screen cloth. The mesh size of the lower screen cloth may be equal to the mesh size of the upper screen cloth or slightly larger than the upper screen cloth openings up to about 50 per cent larger. The superposed screen cloths may rest upon a much coarser mesh screen which serves merely as a structural support for the screen cloths and does not perform a screening function.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1976Date of Patent: July 5, 1977Assignee: Derrick Manufacturing CorporationInventor: H. William Derrick, Jr.
