  • Patent number: 6202856
Abstract: A screen having a frame, three screen cloth layers and a laminating solidified layer with perforations therethrough. The screening layer of the screen cloth is typically of the finest mesh with increasing coarseness to the support mesh. The solidified layer is positioned by placement on the supporting mesh where it is fused to impregnate through each of the screen layers to form surfaces on either side of the lamination. A heat press is employed to so configure the solidified layer. A nonstick sheet between the screening mesh and the heat press molds texture into the surface of the solidified layer for reduced slippage of material being screened on the assembly. The screen lamination is stretched and bonded to a screen frame.

  • Patent number: 6029824
Abstract: A substantially planar screen for a solid particle separator is formed from one or more layers of mesh. The one or more layers of mesh are formed into a series of ridges separated by channels within the plane of the screen. The wire mesh is bonded to a rigid or semi-rigid panel having a plurality of relatively large openings as compared to those of the mesh to create a plurality of repairable screen cells. The support panel is formed with or bent into a series of alternating ridges and channels to create the ridges and channels in the wire mesh when it is bonded to the panel. The cross-sectional shape of the ridges are generally triangular to maximize exposure of surface area of the screen to a flow of material to be separated. Flat surfaces on the ridges and in the channels facilitate repair of screen cells with solid plugs.

Abstract: A screen for use with a vibrating screening machine to filter undesired particles from a liquid uses a filter cloth having a substantially rectangular mesh suitable for separating the undesired particles from the liquid bonded in laminar relationship to a back-up having a substantially coarser mesh. The substantially rectangular mesh is formed by a lengthwise array of parallel individual wires woven with a transverse widthwise array of parallel groups of at least three wires. The individual wires are distorted from rectangular proximate the ends of the rectangles by bows in the individual wires at their area of intersection with each of the parallel groups of wires. This configuration provides improved throughput and life characteristics over known screens. • Patent number: 5490598

  • Patent number: 5413288
Abstract: A partition diaphragm which divides a grinding chamber of a ball mill into several chambers is formed into a compound structure comprising a primary screen plate and a secondary screen plate, with the slit clearance of the secondary screen plate being smaller than that of the prior art while avoiding the occurrence of blinding. The secondary screen plate of the partition diaphragm is comprised of a wire sieve provided with fine slits having a trapezoidal shape in section. The wire seive is loosely disposed between adjacent members so as to be freely movable to a certain extent. Since there is no sticking of material by movement of the wire sieve in spite of the slit clearance in the wire sieve, fine particles in the partition diaphragm can move smoothly and the two grinding chambers are well-balanced, resulting in an improved grinding efficiency.

Abstract: A high speed stock thickener has a foraminous endless wire. The stock thickener is of the type in which an open mesh endless wire is trained over a pair of rolls and paper stock to be thickened is applied between the wire and the rolls and is carried on an inside surface of the wire for dewatering, particularly at the regions where the stock is carried between the wire and a roll. The improved wire is formed with a width greater than that of the rolls with a marginal edge of the wire extending beyond the face of the rolls. A guide belt is attached at each of the marginal edges of the wire and runs with a side wall in engagement with the end of the adjacent roll. The guide belts are attached to the wire by an adhesive bond between the backs of the belts and the adjacent wire surfaces, and by a continous thread which is sewn through each belt from the bottom of the belt and through the back thereof and into the wire.

Abstract: A new and unique pattern and use of flexible ribs on a solids filtering screen, such as those used in drilling wells for hydrocarbons and other substances, in conjunction with a coordinated system for hanging such screens and directing the flow of trapped solids over the surface of such screens, is disclosed. The invention counteracts the tendency of trapped solids to migrate to and congregate in the lowest areas of a suspended screen, and therefore the invention reduces the incidence of screen tearing and increases the flow rate through the screen.

  • Patent number: 4735712
Abstract: A rubber wear layer is molded to a metal sheet, which is relatively thin, in comparison with a side rail for tensioning a vibrating screen, then attached to the side rail, as above a flange which provides a connection with the screen. The rubber layer and sheet may be wider than the width desired for the rail, in which event the wear layer and sheet are trimmed to the desired width, as by shearing. The rubber layer may also have a width less than the sheet, so as to leave a lip along one edge. The aforesaid attachment is made by pins propelled by an explosive charge through the bonded layer, the sheet and the plate at spaced positions. A head of each pin abuts the sheet and the portion which extends past the plate is removed, as by grinding. The sheet may be additionally attached to the rail by spot welds at spaced psitions on the lip, which prevents the heat of welding from adversely affecting the rubber. The lip is placed on the plate opposite the flange which connects with the screen.

  • Patent number: 4452656
Abstract: Apparatus for making plastic screen panels, and especially abrasion-resistant mining screens, includes a large rotary screen drum member on which an extruded, profiled cross-section screen surface-forming wire is helically wound at a pitch which will produce the desired screen slot width. Immediately adjacent the drum member is a rod-positioning mechanism from which a plurality of screen panel support rods are sequentially fed from a stack and welded to the wires on the drum surface in a direction parallel to the drum axis and transverse to the surface wires. The welding is done with a double-edged heater bar which is temporarily placed in contact with the rod and drum before the rod is forced against the drum. The screen drum is indexed after each support rod is attached to it by an angular amount sufficient to provide the desired spacing on the finished panel.

  • Patent number: 4295918
Abstract: Assembly apparatus for a wear resistant plastic mining screen, preferably one made out of wires formed by extruding urethane around a rigid steel core, includes a feed roll having spaced grooves for receiving elongated profile wires which define the working surface of the screen. A support rod positioning member is mounted at a welding station to frictionally receive a screen support rod on its top side and then be flipped over to position the support rod above the profile wires which pass transversely under it. A welding bar having heated fin portions on its upper and lower sides is then passed between and in contact with the support rod and the profile wires to slightly melt them. The welding bar is then quickly removed and the support rod is quickly moved downwardly against the profile wires and held until the integral joints formed at each intersection are solidified. Additional support rods are welded to the profile wires at spaced intervals until the desired screen length has been reached.
