Patent number: 4696738Abstract: An aggregate separator has a fan-shaped separating surface made up of an array of diverging end-stretched wires which are permitted to oscillate individually in response to vibratory stimulus. The surface includes a plurality of identical fan-shaped panels, each panel including a plurality of wires and a pair of end sheaths which retain the ends of the wires in fixed relation to each other so that the wires of each panel diverge. Each panel is stretched on the frame of the separator until the length and tension of the wires are substantially the same. Intermediate transverse bridges may be used to position the wires between the upstream and downstream ends of the separator and ensure that the effective spacing between adjacent oscillating wires does not exceed the exit interval.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1985Date of Patent: September 29, 1987Inventor: Charles N. Patent number: 4529510Abstract: A screening basket has one or more screen decks and has upright side walls integrated with cross beams. A side beam, at approximately the center of gravity of the basket, is integrated with each of the side walls as well as with the cross beams to provide a unitary, rugged basket capable of vibratory movement on a support frame. A pair of cross shafts extend transversely of the screening basket and project beyond the side walls. These shafts are journaled in the side beams and have one projecting end geared together for opposite rotation. These projecting ends carry eccentric weights of different mass to provide an oval vibratory stroke of the screening basket upon rotation of the shafts. Adjusting mechanism is provided to adjust the relative position of the weights on the shafts to vary the angle of stroke. These weights are arranged to receive auxiliary weights to vary the amplitude of vibratory stroke as well as the shape of the stroke.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1982Date of Patent: July 16, 1985Inventors: Louis W. Johnson, Bruce G. Johnson

Patent number: 4498981Abstract: An anti-blinding grain, seed and like particulate cleaning and grading machine includes a gyrating support frame assembly, and mechanism for vibrating the assembly. Horizontally inclined opposed guide members extend along the side members of the assembly on the interior face thereof at a horizontally inclined angle to project interiorly thereof. The separating screen for separating overs and unders has side rails which are supported by the flanges which project outwardly from the side rails of a clearer ball tray to overlie the guide members. Balls trapped in the ball tray are deflected upwardly with the gyrating motion to engage the separating screen and keep it from becoming blinded. Swingable clamp shoes clamp the screen side rails and the ball tray side rails against the guide members.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1984Date of Patent: February 12, 1985Assignee: Crippen Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventor: Robert E. Patent number: 4487323Abstract: The invention is apparatus which can automatically make a screen analysis of a granular material. The heart of the apparatus is a polygonal drum having graded screens on each of the faces except one. This open face serves as a door for introducing a sample into the interior of the drum and for discharging any material larger than the largest screen. A gear motor and crank arrangement serves to longitudinally shake the drum and agitate the sample. A second gear motor indexes the drum from screen to screen after a predetermined shaking time. Each screen fraction is accumulated on an electronic scale with weights being determined by differential weighing. The gear motors are timed by a microprocessor which also receives screen friction weight inputs and calculates a screen analysis.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1983Date of Patent: December 11, 1984Assignee: Weyerhaeuser CompanyInventor: Gevan R. Patent number: 4380494Abstract: A plurality of truss-like supports are secured, as by welding, and in spaced relationship, to the underside of a screen cloth. The supported screen cloth is then removably secured in position in a vibrating frame to form therewith a vibrating screen. Each truss-like support includes a support rod formed of wire rod of predetermined diameter disposed with a major portion thereof spaced from and substantially parallel to the plane of the screen cloth, and with end portions thereof merging into the plane of the end pieces of selected wire rods forming the screen cloth and being welded thereto. A spacer wire, formed from wire rod of a diameter less than that of the support rod and to an approximate sinusoidal configuration, is disposed so that the upper tips, formed by the sine configuration, are welded to the bottom surface of the screen cloth and so that the lower such tips are welded to the upper surface of the support rod.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1981Date of Patent: April 19, 1983Assignee: Litton Systems, Inc.Inventor: Albert Wilson

Patent number: 4375408Abstract: Molded elastomeric framing member has internal horizontal and vertical slots which are adapted to frictionally engage several of the longitudinal profile surface wires and portions of the transverse support bar members along a side edge of a flat deck screen panel. Parallel top and bottom portions of the framing member are adapted to be engaged by a support surface of a vibrating screen apparatus and a clamping apparatus carried by said screen apparatus. The framing member prevents metal-to-metal contact between the screen panel and vibrating apparatus, thus reducing the noise level of the apparatus. It also helps protect persons handling the panel from possible injury by rough edges and eliminates the expense and labor associated with the welding of side panels to the ends of the support bars. To prevent the screen panel from becoming electrically isolated from the vibrating screen apparatus, the elastomeric framing member can be made electrically conductive.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1981Date of Patent: March 1, 1983Assignee: UOP Inc.Inventor: Thomas A. Anderson

Patent number: 4219412Abstract: Screening apparatus for aggregates or the like has a sieve screen comprising a plurality of sieve elements secured to a support frame of moulded synthetic plastics material, each element having a lug formed by an undercut peripheral depending skirt engaging a corresponding recessed sidewall of a groove in the frame. A support frame for such a sieve screen may be in the form of a lattice moulded from synthetic plastics material, preferably have cross members so spaced that each aperture of lattice will be obscured by a different one of the plurality of sieve elements. The frame may have a plurality of attachment bars projecting at intervals from the undersurface thereof and be supported in the apparatus by a plurality of spaced support bars, each bar having, at intervals along its length corresponding to the spacing of the attachment bars, apertures of a shape to receive said bars.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1977Date of Patent: August 26, 1980Assignee: N. Patent number: 4040951Abstract: Two arrangements for retaining a screen in and on a shaker frame are shown. Both arrangements provide apparatus for the ready removal and replacement of the screen in the shaker frame. The first arrangement provides apparatus for screens having one-quarter inch and larger openings. In this apparatus a multiplicity of T-bolts is employed. The heads of these T-bolts cover two or three screen openings while the shanks of the bolts pass through an opening in the screen without damage. The threaded ends of these bolts are turned into the threaded portions of T-nuts whose head portions are slidably carried on a rectangular bar disposed transversely of the frame. There is a plurality of these transverse bars each of whose ends is actuated up or down by a toggle mechanism. When the bars are moved downwardly by the toggle mechanisms the T-bolts which are retained by the T-nuts snugly retain the screen on fixed ribs on the screen frame. For screens with smaller openings a second apparatus is provided.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1975Date of Patent: August 9, 1977Inventor: Kenneth Raymond Cole
