Pulsating Current Patents (Class 209/468)
  • Patent number: 7987992
Abstract: The invention describes a process and apparatus producing a dense coke fraction from a first particulate coke fraction having a first average density and a first average particle size distribution, stratifying the coke fraction in a density separator into at least two fractions, the at least two fractions comprising a light coke fraction and the dense coke fraction. The dense fraction having an average density greater than the first average density and a particle size distribution substantially equivalent to the first average particle size distribution. The apparatus includes an inclined oscillating table comprising a gas-pervious deck, and a gas mover.

  • Patent number: 7422114
Abstract: A vibratory material separating apparatus has at least two plateau conveying surfaces interrupted by a drop out opening. A composite mixture is conveyed by a vibrating action beyond the first conveying plateau and over a foraminous section in the first conveying plateau adjacent the drop out opening. Air is directed upwardly through the foraminous section to break apart the composite mixture, and an air supply formed by an air duct is also directed angularly in relationship to the plane of the first conveying plateau to further break apart the composite mixture and to propel particles of predetermined density and/or dimension to the landing area on the second conveying plateau. The air duct is adjustable between a first position and a second position to form an air stream having an adjustable and width. In another aspect, a separating tube is located between and spaced from the first and second conveying plateaus, within the drop out opening.

  • Patent number: 5964355
Abstract: Procedure for separating heavy particles of material from lighter particles, e.g. for separating impurities from powdery or fragmental material, such as fibers or chips, in which procedure the material (2) to be treated is supplied onto a carrier surface (1) pervious to gas and gas impacts (P) are applied to the material through the carrier surface (1), causing the heavier particles to move closer to the carrier surface (1). The carrier surface (1) is mainly moved in one direction of movement to move the heavy particles (R) and the lighter particles (K) are passed, mainly by the agency of the inclination of the carrier surface (1) and/or the gas flow, in a direction substantially differing from the principal direction of movement of the carrier surface (1). The invention also relates to an apparatus implementing the procedure.

Abstract: Apparatus for separating heavy particles of material from lighter particles, e.g. for separating impurities from powdery or fragmental material, such as fibers or chips. The apparatus includes a carrier surface (1) which is pervious to gas, onto which the material (2) to be treated is supplied, as well as a device for applying gas impacts through the carrier surface (1) to the material (2) to be treated. The apparatus includes special valve elements (4) disposed below the carrier surface (1) to produce gas impacts.

  • Patent number: 5504972
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and an apparatus for removing deposits from materials. By feeding unidirectional pulsating air pulsating while flowing in one direction, porous member (4), to materials (m) supplied from above the porous member (4) stretched laterally in a main body case (1A) of a removing apparatus main body (1), the deposits from the materials (m) are removed by the action of the unidirectional pulsating air. The apparatus comprises a removing apparatus main body (1) possessing a feed port (5) and a product outlet (11) disposed above a porous member (4) stretched laterally in a main body case (1A), and an air vibration generating device (30) for feeding unidirectional pulsating air pulsating while flowing in one direction, toward the porous member (4) from above the porous member (4).

  • Patent number: 4857177
Abstract: Mixed scrap metal pieces 6 are sorted in a fluidised hindered settler containing sand, through which the pieces settle at a differential rate. The sand is fluidised by air from 20 and vibration-driven around a circular trough 2. A depthwise partition 14a sorts the pieces according to settling rate, whereafter they are removed up separate ramps 14 and 16. The sand is levelled preparatory to receiving the pieces 6, and only afterwards is it fluidised.

  • Patent number: 4155837
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cleaning textile fiber tufts by depositing such textile fiber tufts onto the upper surface of a supporting member provided with openings, directing streams of compressed air upwardly through the openings in the member and against the textile fiber tufts from delivery nozzles arranged below the supporting member for propelling the tufts upwardly to release dust therefrom and permit heavy particles to be separated from the tufts and to fall through the openings in the supporting member; drawing away the released dust by means of a suction device disposed above the supporting member, and conveying the fiber tufts along the supporting member.
