  • Patent number: 10889952
Abstract: Apparatus for removing debris from channeled water that includes a bar screen assembly. The assembly includes a plurality of spaced apart screen bars, each bar having an upstream edge and a downstream edge and distal ends to which U-shaped clips are attached. Each of the clips has a bar engaging portion and a cross member engaging portion that attaches to an associated cross member. The clips operate to space the trailing edge of the screen bars a predetermined distance from associated cross members and allow easy replacement of a bar. A continuous conveyor carries a plurality of rakes having a plurality of spaced apart tines which are adapted to fit between the screen bars as the rake is moved along the bars by the conveyor. The tines of the rake have a length that substantially spans the distance between the leading edge and trailing edge of a bar, so that tips of the rake tines extend to at least the trailing edge of an associated bar.

Abstract: Debris adhering to the outer surface of a barrel-type fish screen is cleared by air bursts from a series of perforated air pipes positioned inside the outer foraminous shell of the screen, the perforations being holes with axes at an acute angle to the screen radius for efficient use of the air. Separately, the conical water collection manifold mounted inside the shell is open at its narrow end, with a valve mounted to that open end to control the opening. The opening prevents reduced water inflow at that end of the manifold, and the valve adjusts the access of the surrounding water to the opening, thereby allowing the manifold to be tuned to more closely approach a uniform distribution of axial water flow along the length of the collection manifold for different ambient conditions.

The supporting body (13) is made of a perforated sheet metal including comparatively large openings (37). The supporting body (13) provides for resistance and stability of the sieve grate (6). The mesh sieve (7) is located in the interior of the sieve grate (6). The mesh sieve (7) forms a separation surface (14) for the material to be screened. The mesh sieve (7) includes meshes of a comparatively small size. The mesh sieve (7) is fixedly connected to the supporting body (13). The detaching device (16) is arranged outside of the sieve grate (6).

  • Patent number: 7300572
Abstract: A traveling water screen comprising an endless foraminous belt with flights. The foraminous belt forms a water screen extending from a lower end in a flowing stream to an upper end above the surface of the stream. The stream flows through openings in the foraminous screen. The flights, which may be scoops, are arranged in spaced apart relation on the outer surface of the water screen. The water screen is driven in a direction so that its upstream portion advances upward and its downstream portion downward. The flights form inclined surfaces across the width of the screen from a point of highest elevation to one or more points of lowest elevation at one or both side edges of the screen. As the screen moves, the flights lift fish toward the surface. As a flight breaks the surface, fish slide down the inclined flights toward one or both side edges of the screen to be diverted safely.

  • Patent number: 7147784
Abstract: A drive system for driving a screen in a fluid screening system comprises a hydraulic or pneumatic motor coupled to a drive shaft of the screen. The system is sized to provide the torque required to drive the screen throughout-the desired speed range, as well as providing additional torque as required to free lodged solids from the screen field. The hydraulic motor provides overload protection when lodged solids block the rotating rake bar. The drive system operates up to a predetermined pressure value before the overload protection is activated. The drive system may be operated in either a manual mode or an automatic mode.
