  • Patent number: 7033490
Abstract: A floating, multi-directional liquid skimming device, comprising a perimeter frame attached to a net, where the frame rotates relative to a central axis. A central axis element may be attached to a pole handle. Floatation elements can be located along the central axis. In operation, the frame floats at rest with the frame roughly parallel to the surface of the liquid, and where the top edge of the frame is above the liquid surface to retain collected debris. When the device is pulled toward the operator, the frame swivels relative to the surface, so the frame opening is facing the direction of travel, enabling capture of floating material. When the skimmer motion is stopped, inherent floatation causes the frame to quickly swivel back to the resting position. If the skimmer is pushed away from the operator, the frame opening swivels to face the new direction of travel.

  • Patent number: 7014761
Abstract: An environmentally friendly dual lube venturi filter cartridge which has no metallic components. A plastic centertube having a venturi section supports a bypass filter element on standoffs molded into the centertube. An outer concentric full flow filter element surrounds the bypass filter. The full flow filter is supported on a plastic centertube which creates a gap between it and the bypass filter. A first bypass filter endcap both seals the bypass filter and provides standoffs for allowing full flow oil around the bypass filter. The standoffs thus split the full flow which progresses through the primary filter in two paths, a primary path around the bypass filter and into the centertube, and a bypass path through the secondary filter and the venturi. Plastic upper and lower endcaps carry grooves for simple sealing gaskets, a radial seal gasket on the bottom which seals against both the endcap which carries it and a flange in the housing, and an axial seal gasket at the top.

  • Patent number: 6942790
Abstract: An open-air filtration device cleans swimming pools and hot tubs in an efficient, reliable manner. An open-air filter with a suction chamber unit comprises two scrubbing brushes and an impeller powered by a motor drive. Water containing debris is pumped to a level above the swimming pool or hot tub surface. The debris containing water is discharged through a spout into a filter tube. A filter element associated with the filter tube, and open to atmosphere filters the debris containing water by gravitational forces solely. The spout and filter tube are, optionally, attached to a pole that manually propels the suction unit. They may alternatively be attached to a floating platform that floats on the water surface of the pool or hot tub. If filter efficiency decreases, the water level in the filter tube rises, indicating that the filter element must be replaced. A rise in water level is visually observed or detected automatically and communicated using a visible or audible alarm.

Abstract: This invention relates to a liquid filter which includes a housing and a rotatable lid for covering the opening in the filter housing. The housing incorporates the inlet port and the outlet port for the filter. The lid is secured to the housing by rotating movement in which cam followers carried by the lid engage cam members carried by the housing to cause the lid to be cammed downwardly upon the housing. As the lid is drawn down onto the housing, an annular seal carried by the lid engages the inner surface of the housing to form a seal between the lid and the housing, covering a side opening in the housing.

  • Publication number: 20030226795
