  • Patent number: 4728422
Abstract: A filtering screen is described comprising: a first filter mesh, a second filter mesh having a different mesh size from the first and overlying the first mesh, and an apertured support to which both of the meshes are bonded so as to maintain the two meshes in tension, the tension in one of the meshes being greater than that in the other. At least one other filter mesh may be bonded over the first two meshes. The support may comprise a plate of fiber reinforced material having apertures formed therein which are much greater in area than the openings in the filter mesh, or a sheet of metal in which apertures are formed and in which edge regions of each aperture are turned through approximately 90.degree. to extend normal to the plane of the sheet from the underside thereof to increase the rigidity of the sheet. The frame may alternatively be a honeycomb structure or an apertured metallic plate, the filter meshes being joined to the surface of the frame.

  • Patent number: 4622136
Abstract: A reusable liquid filter assembly, such as an oil filter, is provided comprising a housing with inlet and outlet ports, filter means removably mounted inside the housing, means for holding the filter means inside the housing having tapered lengthwise slots for increased liquid flow, bypass valve means for providing a passageway between the inlet and outlet ports when the liquid pressure exceeds a predetermined value, means for alternately sealing and opening the housing to remove or insert the filter means, and a plurality of gasket means for permitting the filter assembly to be cooperable with a plurality of engines. An internally threaded nipple is also provided for insertion into the outlet port for changing the size thereof to permit use on a plurality of engines.

  • Patent number: 4536290
Abstract: A water purification device has first and second like hollow elongated members adapted for detachable engagement with each other, and when engaged defining an elongated housing having a cylindrically shaped central section and opposite ends with small openings. A cylindrically shaped filter is disposed removably in said central section. The filter ends are disposed transversely to an axial bore in the filter. A first mechanism detachably securable to a water faucet pivotably secures one housing end to the faucet and conducts water from the port into the housing. A thin flat annularly shaped disposable fiber prefilter removably overlies the end of the filter adjacent said one housing end. A second mechanism connected between said first mechanism and the bore has a first position at which the conducted water flows through the device unfiltered and has a second position at which the water is filtered.

  • Patent number: 4379053
Abstract: A filter assembly having bypass valves to allow continued liquid flow during the removal and reinsertion of a new filter. The assembly includes a cylindrical filter housing threadedly mounted to a valve housing with a cylindrical filter removably mounted within the filter housing. The valve housing has an inlet connectable to a source of liquid. A first valve is rotatable from a filter position directing all liquid flow from the inlet to the filter to a bypass position directing all liquid flow from the inlet to the outlet of the assembly. A shut off valve prevents liquid flow into the filter when the first valve is in the bypass position.

Abstract: A separator for immiscible, emotionless-forming liquids having different specific gravities which comprises a container and a valve arrangement provided in the lower end of the vessel for movement between open and closed conditions whereby through disposition in the container, the heavier liquid may be discharged from the separator, the lighter liquid being retained therein. The valve configuration is such as to greatly facilitate its disassembly in cleaning as well as economic manufacture.

  • Patent number: 4042511
Abstract: Apparatus for separating or classifying the contents of a flowing slurry comprising a descending flow surface having a low profile and associated therewith a relatively low head box, the latter of which is distinguished by a relatively restricted cross sectional area adjacent its top. The flow surface is characterized by screen sections successive of which differ in orientation and profile whereby to produce a compact structure having a high capacity for separation of liquid from a flowing slurry. The design of the head box is such to enable a fast and effective delivery of slurry in spite of the low head provided.
