  • Patent number: 10335714
Abstract: The liquid recovery filter includes several embodiments, each of which provides for the recovery of liquid otherwise trapped within the filter housing and element. Each embodiment includes a series of vents, purge ports, and passages that communicate fluidly with the filter housing and filter core. Certain vents and purge ports are initially opened following filtration operations to allow pressurized gas to flow into the housing, thereby forcing residual unfiltered liquid through the filter. When this has been accomplished, another vent is opened to the filter core to allow filtered liquid to flow from the downstream or outlet passage from the filter core. Some embodiments have the filter outlet located above the filter, and include a downstream drain port extending from the filter core. The downstream drain port provides for the recovery of filtered liquid when the vent or purge port is opened in these embodiments.

  • Patent number: 9861916
Abstract: A liquid recovery filter assembly for recovering filtered liquid trapped within a core or downstream side of a filter element. Multiple embodiments each include a recovery port and a recovery filter in fluid communication with the core or downstream side of the filter element. The recovery port is opened following filtration operations to permit and to facilitate filtered liquid to flow from a downstream or outlet port, thus allowing recovery of liquid remaining in the filter core or downstream side following filtering operations. The recovery filter permits the introduction of pressurized gas to force the filtered liquids from the filter assembly without compromising the sterility and/or non-contaminant condition of the liquid.

  • Patent number: 9175845
Abstract: A feedring for use with an axial flow preheat steam generator which utilizes a double wrapper to direct feedwater flow to the cold leg tube bundle region. The feedring is positioned directly over the double wrapper and includes a plurality of standpipes spaced circumferentially along the feedring. The standpipes respectively extend vertically from a lower portion of an interior of the feedring upward through the interior of the feedring. The standpipes have a feedwater intake in the upper portion of the feedring to minimize the potential for vapor formation and bubble collapse water hammer. The components of the standpipe are arranged to minimize the transmission of entrained loose parts from traveling with the feedwater to the tube bundle. A feedwater discharge is provided at the exit of the standpipe at or below the bottom of the feedring, for evenly distributing the feedwater into the double wrapper downcomer.

Abstract: A multi-layer filter including a first media layer surrounded by a second media layer, a third media layer surrounding the second media layer, and at least one retainer disposed between the first and second media layers or between the second and third media layers. The first, second and third media layers surround the central axis of the filter. The filter has multiple media layers in a compact package, providing increased media surface area which allows greater contaminant holding capacity, lower pressure drop, and lower face velocity.

Abstract: A fuel filter assembly includes a housing having an end supporting a first tube. The housing defines a cavity that is enclosed by a cover opposite the end. A diverter is arranged within the cavity and includes first and second sides with the first side adjacent to the housing end. The diverter includes a wall on the first side in sealing engagement with either the first tube or the housing end. The diverter is constructed from a first material forming a base and a second material supported by the first material defining at least a portion of the first side. The second material may be overmolded onto the first material. Preferably, the first material is a plastic and the second material is an elastomer forming a gasket suitable for providing a seal between the diverter and the housing. One end of the filter media is embedded in the adhesive on the second side of the diverter.

Abstract: A disposable, spin-on fluid filter is constructed and arranged to mount onto a base that is configured with a threaded mounting shaft. The base provides a fluid inlet flow to the filter and a fluid exit path from the filter. The filter construction includes a housing canister having a closed end and an opposite, open end and a fluid filtering media positioned within the housing canister. A mounting post is formed as part of the closed first end of the housing canister. The mounting post is constructed and arranged for assembly to the threaded mounting shaft of the base. The design focuses on the elimination of any nutplate and on repositioning the location where the fluid filter is connected to the head to the closed end of the canister.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the production of liquid cleaners, consisting of a cleaner housing with a cleaning chamber exhibiting an inner and an outer end, and a cleaning insert arranged inside the cleaning chamber. The cleaner housing is given a conical shape such that the cleaning chamber receives a smaller lateral dimension at its inner end than at its outer end, said outer end being openable. The cleaning insert is manufactured from a fluid-permeable, compressible cleaning material with a lateral dimension that in an initial state, outside the cleaner housing, exceeds the smaller lateral dimension of the cleaning chamber. The other end of the cleaner housing is kept open, and the cleaning insert is inserted into said other end having the larger lateral dimension, and is pressed into the cleaning chamber towards the end having the smaller lateral dimension.

  • Patent number: 6679990
Abstract: A filter assembly includes a bowl assembly and a head member enclosing a filter cartridge. A filter center tube is permanently fixed to the bowl but allowed to rotate within a pocket in the bottom of the bowl. The top of the center tube is threaded for fastening to a stud on the filter mounting head. The center tube cannot be threaded onto the stud without the filter assembled over the center tube and into the bowl. In order to assemble the bowl to the head, the operator must turn the outside of the bowl. If a filter is not present, the bowl will turn independently of the center tube and no torque is transmitted to the threads. When the filter is properly installed, a series of tabs or features spaced around the inner perimeter of the wall of the bowl interlock with corresponding grooves or features in the outside diameter of the end cap of the filter. Tabs or features on the outer diameter of the center tube also interlock with grooves or features in the inside diameter of the end cap.
