Abstract: A CMS membrane module includes plurality of hollow fiber CMS membranes that are enclosed within an open cylindrical shell whose ends are embedded in tubesheets. The shell is concentrically disposed within an open cylindrical pressure vessel whose open ends are covered by and secured by end caps. The shell includes a feed fluid inlet formed therein between the tubesheets and a retentate outlet in between one of the tubesheets and an adjacent end cap. A retentate seal is formed between the shell and the pressure vessel at a position between the tubesheets. A permeate seal is formed between the pressure vessel and the tubesheet that is adjacent a permeate port of the module. A structure made up of the CMS membranes, shell, tubesheets, and seals is slidable within the pressure vessel and not fixed in place in relation to the pressure vessel and end caps.

Abstract: An improved pool skimmer is provided in which a skimmer basket grapnel having a pair of aligned removable paddles adapted for attachment to a skimmer basket sidewall and for blocking suction within a skimmer basket volume. The paddles each include a vertically sliding gate which, when opened, released vacuum within the skimmer basket. This allows the basket to be easily removed. The sliding gate stems articulate vertically to open and close. The apex of the stems attaches to a handle, whereupon an upward pulling motion actuates the two paddle gates open. Once a vacuum seal is broken, the attachment to the basket sidewall allows further upward motion to remove the basket from its skimmer housing. The instant abstract is neither intended to define the invention disclosed in this specification nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

  • Patent number: 10035153
Abstract: Improvements for hydronic air separators enable removal of micro bubbles of the air and micro particles of dirt. Adding coalescing media (CM) to existing and new tangential and in-line AS helps remove damaging micro air bubbles and small dirt particles from the water by a physics principle called surface adhesion. When the small air bubbles and dirt in the water come in contact with the CM, they stick to the surface of the media and then coalesce into larger bubbles and clumps of dirt. The larger air bubbles can float up off the CM and out of the water, to be released from the AS though an automatic air release valve. The larger dirt clumps fall off the CM and land at the bottom of the AS tank where they can be expelled through a hole in the AS tank connected to a drain valve. Water can be filtrated leaving the top of a separator tank. In such arrangements, material in the water with a specific gravity lower than 1.

  • Patent number: 8051989
Abstract: A support structure of a filter element for supporting a filter material that is adapted to filter a fluid includes a first frame portion and a second frame portion. The first frame portion has a plurality of radially-extending fingers that are longitudinally spaced from one another. The first frame portion is disposed entirely on an unfiltered side of the filter material. A second frame portion has a pair of longitudinally-extending support surfaces that are disposed in a spaced, facing relationship with respect to one another. The second frame portion is disposed entirely on a filtered side of the filter material. The radially-extending fingers of the first frame portion and each of the longitudinally-extending support surfaces of the second frame portion support the filter material to define a first radial channel. The radially-extending fingers of the first frame portion space the longitudinally-extending support surfaces of the second frame portion apart from one another.
