Part Flow-full Flow Patents (Class 210/DIG13)
  • Patent number: 6139725
Abstract: An oil reclamation device includes a full flow filter (10) fitted around a partial flow filter (12) within an open-ended casing (8). The open end of the casing is capped by a housing defining a vaporization chamber (6). In normal operation, oil flows from oil passage (14) through the full flow filter (10) to a branched leg (22). A metering jet (34) provided in the branched leg allows a minor portion of the oil to flow through the partial flow filter and then into the vaporization chamber. The full flow filter extracts solid contaminants having a particle size of 15 microns or greater. The partial flow filter extracts solid contaminants of 1 micron or greater. The filter element of the partial flow filter is composed of compressed cotton fibers and preferably has a higher density in an upper end adjacent the vaporization chamber. In the vaporization chamber, liquid contaminants are removed from the minor portion by a heating element (72).

  • Patent number: 5695637
Abstract: A combined full flow and bypass oil filter for internal combustion engines includes a generally cylindrical filter body and a generally cylindrical filter head which is threadedly attached to the filter body. The filter head includes an inlet and an outlet and the flow path between the inlet and outlet extends through the filter body. Disposed within the filter body is a generally cylindrical and hollow full flow filtering element and a generally cylindrical and hollow bypass filtering element. The incoming flow of lubricating oil passes through the outer diameter surfaces of the full flow and bypass filtering elements and exits from these filtering elements through their hollow interiors. Concentrically positioned in the exiting flow path of the full flow filter is a Venturi nozzle which creates a low pressure zone.

  • Patent number: 5342511
Abstract: A filter assembly for an internal combustion engine includes inner and outer coaxial filter elements disposed in a spin-on canister which is detachably secured to a mounting adaptor. Oil from the crankcase is filtered by the outer filter element and a substantial volume of the filtered oil flows to the primary lubricating circuit of the engine.
