Abstract: The invention provides a relatively simple and inexpensive power-assisted movable rack system, movement of which is controlled by an operator. The movable rack system comprises a plurality of movable racks, each of which includes a plurality of wheels, a DC motor turning forward or backward and reciprocating the movable rack, a pair of direction switches provided at opposite positions in moving directions of the movable rack, and an actuating circuit rotating the DC motor in one direction during the operation of one of the direction switches and rotating the DC motor in an opposite direction during the operation of the other direction switch. The DC motor applies dynamic braking force, so that movable racks can be stopped with a short braking distance.

Abstract: An indexing parts rack for supporting a plurality of objects includes an elongated track having a longitudinal axis and at least one hanger assembly mounted on the track. The hanger assembly is movable along the track in a direction of the longitudinal axis and is rotatable about the longitudinal axis. The indexing parts rack also includes a stop positioned adjacent the track whereby when no object is supported from the hanger assembly, the hanger assembly assumes a first position relative to the longitudinal axis to enable the hanger assembly to move along the track past the stop. When an object is supported from the hanger assembly, the hanger assembly rotates relative to the longitudinal axis to a second position to engage the stop and prevent the hanger assembly from moving past the stop along the track.

Abstract: A jig (10) is provided for holding an elongate member (56) to be surface treated. The jig (10) comprises a beam (12) and a plurality of hangers 14 spaced apart along the beam (12). The hangers (14) have supports (90) with retaining springs (96) thereon which are arranged to support and grip the elongate member (56). The beam (12) has hook-like members (18) for engagement with a lifting bar (30) of a crane (28). The crane (28) is used to transport the jig (10) to an anodising station (60) and subsequently to transport the jig (10) still with the anodised elongate member (56) thereon to a painting station. In that way, an elongate member to be surface treated can be manually placed on the respective supports (90) and held in place by the retaining springs (96) without having to use other forms of clamps.
