The cross bars are locked or secured against undesired movement and rolling to create a shelf that properly supports loads. The cross bars extend between the deck beams such that flanges at the ends thereof overlap the top of the deck beams. The flanges include a tab that extends downwardly to engage with an opening on the top of the deck beams. The lateral support further includes a stabilizer that is fastened to the side wall of the deck beams to prevent rolling or dislodgement of either member.

  • Patent number: 8403157
Abstract: A rack for storing elongate core sample boxes is formed from two separate frames each having three upright posts formed of tubular steel and a plurality of steel tubes extending across between the posts and welded to the posts. The frames can be transported in assembled form and then connected across the top and bottom of the uprights by metal bridging members with C-shaped inserts into the ends of the posts. The structure is held together and braced by diagonal braces which attach to tabs on the bridging members by a wedge drive into a slot in the tab.

  • Patent number: 8376157
Abstract: A shelving system includes a plurality of vertical posts and horizontal traverses. The horizontal traverses are coupled to the vertical posts by means of a bifurcated collar that are placed on each vertical post. Each horizontal traverse includes an end piece which is configured to couple to both halves of the bifurcated collar. Each half of the bifurcated collar comprises a wedge shaped design such that when a load is placed on the traverse, forces are applied to the bifurcated collar that squeezes each half of the collar together more tightly around the vertical post. The traverses may be coupled to one or both sides of the vertical post to allow the shelving system to be extended as far as the user desires in any lateral direction. The shelving system may also be extended in a perpendicular or other angular direction by means of a wedge shaped corner connector.

  • Patent number: 8336722
Abstract: A pallet rack and method for use of same are disclosed. Three panel frames interconnected by two parallel cross members define two lower pallet receiving areas and two upper pallet receiving areas. A catch tray is disposed beneath the two upper pallet receiving areas to catch and redirect fluid and debris to prevent cross-contamination between pallets. The catch tray includes a primary tray and a slidable dependent tray extendably coupled to the primary tray. The slidable dependent tray extends from a retracted position within the primary tray to an extended position having a general decline from the first panel frame to the second panel frame to furnish a slanted surface therebetween. Retraction of the dependent tray provides clearance for fork lift tines to access the rear upper pallet receiving area.

  • Patent number: 8302788
Abstract: A demountable shelving unit with welded crossbar supports, open-channel upright supports, and channel support features. The welded crossbar supports and diagonal supports are slidably received within open-channel upright supports. Upper and lower crossbar supports include upright insertion blocks that are captured within the upright supports and horizontal connectors that extend through slots in the upright supports to connect two upright supports together to form an end unit. Shelf units are connected between two end units to create an assembled shelf. For a typical shelving unit, only eight bolts are needed to assemble each end unit and the shelf units attach to the end units with rivet-type quick disconnect fasteners that fit within teardrop shaped sockets in the upright supports. This results in a demountable shelf that can be assembled quickly and easily with only sixteen bolts per shelving unit.

  • Patent number: 8267263
Abstract: Elongated metal risers are oriented perpendicular to the front end of a shelf, and extend from proximate the front edge of the shelf to at least the rear edge of the shelf. The risers are roughly from one and a half inches to four and a half inches (forty to one hundred fifteen millimeters) in height, and three to six inches (seventy five to one hundred fifty millimeters) in width. A package stored on the shelf is advantageously supported by left and right side risers and a center riser disposed beneath therebetween, thereby forming left and right insertion channels adjacent the center riser. In storing and retrieving objects from the shelf, a forklift machine advances with its left and right forks aligned with the left and right insertion channels, until the forks are securely under the object.

Abstract: A load support system or shelf system includes vertical supports and at least two horizontally extending beams attached to the vertical supports. The cross-section of a beam is L-shaped, and the joists extend along and rest upon a relieved horizontal surface of each of the beams. A plurality of spaced-apart cross trusses are affixed to each of the joists to form a unitary, open lattice for supporting loads. The number and spacing of the cross trusses can be adjusted to securely support the load designed to be accommodated by the system, but the number of trusses can be minimized to correspondingly reduce the weight and cost of the system.
