  • Patent number: 8955701
Abstract: A method of swing stopping control of a suspended load of a crane including a hoist and a trolley solves an equation of motion, given as an equation with respect to the deviation angle of a suspended load from the vertical direction when the trolley travels, for the trolley acceleration to thereby obtain the value of the acceleration or deceleration of the trolley, obtains speed patterns corresponding to the values of the acceleration or deceleration, drives the trolley according to the obtained speed patterns, and carries out control so that the deviation angle of the suspended load from the vertical direction becomes zero at the time when the acceleration or deceleration of the trolley is ended. Thus, even if the length of a rope holding the suspended load up is changed, a required speed pattern is produced to permit highly accurate positioning.

  • Patent number: 6809495
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention move objects throughout three-dimensional by using two supporting ropes each of which connects to both opposing sides of the payload. If one rope breaks, the payload gently travels to the middle of the coverage area in a safe manner, maintaining the given displacement in the other unbroken axis. One rope controls the X-axis motion of the platform and is designated the X movement rope. The other rope controls the Y-axis motion of the platform and is designated the Y movement rope. Displacing equal lengths of the X and Y movement ropes allows the Z-axis of the platform to be traversed. There is no need for a complex computer control system since the Z-axis displacement is substantially independent of X and Y axis movement over a coverage area serviced by the platform. In addition, since the ropes are commanded from one point, distantly located motors and electrical cables are not required.

The carriage includes a rotatably mounted drum containing three sections on which are wound the main and slackpulling lines, and a drop line which is utilized in raising and dropping the logs. The band brake assembly includes a unique crank and lever system for actuating the brake band, whereby the brake band tightly grips the brake drum surface of the brake assembly, thus to prevent drum rotation, with the slackpulling line loose. The brake assembly is controllably released with tensing of the slackpulling line, differing degrees of tensing producing differing degrees of release of the brake assembly.

  • Patent number: 4109799
Abstract: A skyline logging carriage wherein the winch drum around which the load line is wound is powered by a fluid motor through a worm gear arrangement which eliminates the need for a separate braking system. The fluid motor is driven by a fluid pump powered by a diesel engine mounted on the carriage frame. The hydraulic transmission of power to the winch drum eliminates the need for clutches or direct mechanical connection and braking systems generally required. Greater freedom in placement of the winch drum in relation to the fairlead to obtain an optimum fleet angle and distance between the winch drum and fairlead for proper level winding of the load line about the winch drum is made possible by hydraulic transmission of power to the winch drum. Operation of the winch line is radio controlled by an operator at a yarder or other location. The carriage is moved along the skyline by a main line or main line and haulback lines.
