Abstract: An apparatus for aftertreatment of exhaust gas includes a housing an exhaust inlet, a first flow guide to guide at least part of exhaust gas to a first direction to form a first direction flow, and a reactant inlet for dispensing reactant to the first direction flow in an inner cavity to mix with the exhaust gas to provide a mixed exhaust gas. A second flow guide guides at least a part of the first direction flow to a second direction to form a second direction flow opposite to the first direction, and guide the second direction flow to a third direction to form a third direction flow downstream to the second direction and parallel to the first direction. An exhaust outlet exits output exhaust gas from the inner cavity; mixing of the reactant and the exhaust gas occurring within the first, second and third direction flow.
Abstract: A component of the exhaust aftertreatment system includes a metallic body having a tapered portion. The component of the exhaust aftertreatment system further includes a curved plate arranged within the tapered portion of the metallic body. The curved plate has a plurality of perforations disposed on the curved plate to facilitate distribution of an exhaust mixture flowing through the curved plate across a surface of a substrate.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an exhaust treatment apparatus (1) for an internal combustion engine (5). The apparatus includes a catalyst chamber (15) containing a catalyst (35). One or more exhaust gas inlets (11 A-D) are provided for supplying exhaust gases from the internal combustion engine (5) to the catalyst chamber (C). An exhaust gas outlet (21) for supplying exhaust gases from the catalyst chamber to a turbocharger (25). An injection nozzle (19) is provided for introducing a reductant (23) into the exhaust gases between the catalyst (15) and the turbocharger (25). The reductant (23) and the exhaust gases can undergo mixing as they pass through the turbocharger (25). The catalyst (15) can have a three-dimensional open structure to facilitate the flow of exhaust gases. The invention also relates to a method of treating exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine (5).
