Mine Car Patents (Class 213/75B)
  • Patent number: 4203523
Abstract: A rigid jaw-type coupler having a locksetting mechanism which can be easily tripped to restore the lock from a lockset position back to a locked position. The mechanism comprises a lock operating lever which is provided with a projecting lug that is designed to slidably engage and override a specially contoured cam which is carried by a pawl for holding the lever and lock in a lockset position.

  • Patent number: 4139103
Abstract: A safety mechanism for a mine car coupling which includes a draw pin, a pin guide connected to a first mine car with an essentially vertical opening therein for receiving the draw pin, a space beneath the pin guide for receiving a link connected to a second mine car, the link having an opening therein for receiving the draw pin. The draw pin includes an upper shoulder which will engage an upper surface of the pin guide and hold the draw pin in its lower position for insertion through the link opening to couple the cars together. The safety mechanism includes a first interposer pivotally connected to the first car at a point below the upper shoulder of the draw pin and projecting above the upper shoulder a predetermined, distance when the pin is in its lower position.

  • Patent number: 4050588
Abstract: A mine car coupling assembly comprising a spring biased receiving assembly having a pair of jaw members mounted about a pivot point. The forward ends of the jaw members are beveled and tapered inwardly to form a hook configuration adapted to receive and hold an arrowhead shaped male member. Each jaw member's forward end is biased toward the other jaw member's forward end by a spring assembly mounted to both of the jaw members. The tip of the arrowhead member initially engages the jaw members of the receiving assembly and overcomes the spring assembly's force, forcing the jaw members apart. When the arrowhead has entered into the receiving assembly the hook ends are urged back toward each other by the spring assembly to engage the rear surface of the arrowhead member and hold the arrowhead member in position within the receiving assembly.
