Patent number: 11807412Abstract: A preform configured to form a container by stretch blow molding. A finish portion of the preform is at a first end of the preform. The finish portion is a container finish of the container. A support flange is at the finish portion. A tip portion is at a second end of the preform opposite to the first end and is configured to form a container base. A neck portion is adjacent to the support flange, and is configured to form a neck portion. An external stretch radius is at an outer surface of the neck portion. An internal stretch radius is at an inner surface of the neck portion. A first distance is between the internal stretch radius and the external stretch radius and is equal to, or greater than, four times a second distance between the external stretch radius and the support flange.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2019Date of Patent: November 7, 2023Assignee: AMCOR RIGID PACKAGING USA, LLCInventor: John Siciliano

Patent number: 10322433Abstract: Described are metering dispensers (10) having a body (100) configured to hold a flowable composition in a chamber, a drive screw (300) coupled to the body, and a plunger (400) threadingly coupled to the drive screw. The plunger includes at least two annular lips (416) that form a fluid seal with the chamber as the plunger travels along the drive screw through the chamber. A base (200) is rotationally coupled to the body with a cam (208) that contacts at least one tab (114) extending externally from the body so that the tab enters at least one low point (222) on the cam by traveling over a trailing edge (226) of the low point, and the trailing edge then prevents the tab from exiting the low point in the direction of the trailing edge.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2015Date of Patent: June 18, 2019Assignee: DOSELOGIX, LLCInventors: Timothy Gayle Phipps, Daniel Lee DeYoung, Dale Melton Coker, Craig Jay Cochran, John Britton S. Patent number: 10300652Abstract: A method for fabricating containers wherein a molding apparatus is provided having a plurality of mold segments, each of which has two substantially opposite faces that form a mold cavity when abutted against an opposite face of an adjacent mold segment. A first mold segment is passed through a manipulation zone at an increased speed to open the mold cavity between the first and second mold segments. After a preform is positioned within the mold cavity, a second mold segment is passed through the manipulation zone at an increased speed to abut a face of the first mold segment against an opposite face of the second mold segment. A volume of a liquid is next injected into the preform, expanding the preform and forming the container. These steps are repeated and a container produced during the previous iteration is removed during an extracting step in an extracting manipulation zone.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2018Date of Patent: May 28, 2019Assignee: DISCMA AGInventors: Guillaume Chauvin, Klaus Hartwig, Damien Kannengiesser

Patent number: 8857663Abstract: A container containing a substance includes a preformed deformable body defining a filling cavity. The container body has an opening and an integral planar circumferential rim surrounding the opening, which opening is closed by a cover sheet which is sealed to the circumferential rim by means of a circumferential sealing seam. The circumferential rim has a dispensing part which is covered by the cover sheet. The cover sheet is sealed to an upper surface of the dispensing part by at least one rupturable sealing seam and outlet seams defining an outlet passage from the rupturable sealing seam towards the edge of the dispensing part of the circumferential rim, such that, when the rupturable sealing seam is broken, the substance is allowed to flow through the outlet passage between the surface of the dispensing part and the cover sheet towards the edge of the dispensing part.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2009Date of Patent: October 14, 2014Assignee: MDS Global Holding Ltd.Inventors: Michiel Olivier Schölvinck, Robert Willemsen, Sebastiaan Willem Hekkenberg, Roeland Petrus Maria van Oirschot, Edouard Sterngold

Patent number: 7775407Abstract: The contents extractor for jars is a device that is inserted into a food jar or household container. The extractor has a handle with an actuator that the operator squeezes; an elongated mechanized shaft that transmits movement from the actuator; and, a flexible material that retracts and transforms into a 360° disk shape to the inner surfaces of container. When the extractor is inserted into the jar and retracted, the operator pulls the entire device upward out of the container, thus removing the residue remaining. The extractor allows the consumer to use more of the product than would otherwise be possible, thereby saving money for the consumer and reducing resources used to make the product.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2008Date of Patent: August 17, 2010Inventor: Joseph L. Patent number: 5348173Abstract: A stackable collapsible container has a sidewall comprised of opposing conical sections. The upper conical section has a greater length and slighter angle than the lower conical section. Upon application of vertical force the lower section folds under the upper section, so the container assumes a stable collapsed state; and likewise, the necked conical top collapses to further reduce the overall length. The top of a collapsed container has a groove, so that when the top is mated to a ringed recess in a like second container, the containers resiliently lock to each other and thus may be readily stacked.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1991Date of Patent: September 20, 1994Inventor: Peter M. Norwood

Patent number: 4485134Abstract: A form-retaining container made of synthetic plastic material and apparatus for its manufacture in which a plastic material is fed in liquid state onto a male member to provide a layer on the male member constituting a blank for the container. The layer is cooled to prevent crystallization of the material. The thus cooled blank is placed into a mold cavity having an interior configuration corresponding to the desired outer shape of the container to be produced. The layer is inflated into conformity with the mold cavity. The configuration of the mold cavity is such that the blank undergoes biaxial stretching in a middle region of the container by at least 1.5 times while the mouth and part of the bottom of the container will be formed by biaxially stretching the blank less than 1.5 times. The inflated blank is then heated until curing is completed and then the blank is removed from the mold.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1983Date of Patent: November 27, 1984Assignee: PLM AktiebolagInventor: Kjell M. Patent number: 4270589Abstract: A container of variable volume is disclosed consisting of parallel spaced polygon surfaces peripherally interconnected via triangular surfaces which join one another. The triangular surfaces are shaped and interconnected such that when the two polygons move relative to one another they undergo a rotational movement relative to one another. The triangular surfaces may, in place of having their ends attached to the polygons, be attached to a further set of triangular surfaces whereby the stack height of the container may be incrementally increased. Fold-up containers as herein disclosed may be used as ink supply containers for ink recording devices.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1979Date of Patent: June 2, 1981Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventor: Joachim Heinzl
