Guard Or Valve Type Patents (Class 215/17)
  • Patent number: 9010554
Abstract: A tamper-evident closure for a container is provided. The closure comprises a first portion including inner and outer parts, and a second portion. The outer part is rotatable relative to the inner part from a first position in which at least part of the first and second portions are adjacent each other to a second position in which there is a gap therebetween. The first portion comprises locking means for irreversibly locking the closure in the second position upon a first opening so that the gap cannot be closed. The inner part includes a line of weakness which breaks if the outer part is reverse rotated relative to the inner part.

  • Patent number: 8616392
Abstract: Anti-filling device to be attached to the neck of a bottle to be closed by a sealing cap, including attachment means for attachment to the bottleneck, a chamber including a lower lip surrounding a lower orifice and confining a moveable part which forms a valve in conjunction with the lower lip, and an axial distribution duct. The device further includes a moveable axial rod, secured to the anti-filling device, the axial movement of which relative to the device is limited between a low position and a high position, and at least one stopper which is in engagement with the moveable axial rod such that, when the moveable axial rod is located in the low position, the stopper shuts an orifice which is arranged in the chamber. The low position is imposed by a projection attached to the cap, which comes into contact with the moveable axial rod when the cap is attached to the bottleneck.

  • Patent number: 8469227
Abstract: A device for a cup and lid providing a thermal shield to keep the cup's liquid contents hot and facilitating the interval transfer, temporary storage, and cooling of a small amount of liquid prior to drinking. The conservation of heat energy within the cup allows the preservation of aroma and taste, a definite must for a prolonged and enjoyable drinking experience, while a controlled volume of the beverage cools down to a palatable temperature. Also, when the device is used in conjunction with a disposable cup and lid assembly, it improves the stiffness characteristics of the containment assembly, thereby preventing potential spillage or discharge of the hot contents due to accidental or improper handling.

  • Patent number: 8430255
Abstract: A method of forming a device with a controlled electrode gap width includes providing a substrate, forming a functional layer on top of a surface of the substrate, forming a sacrificial layer above the functional layer, exposing a first portion of the functional layer through the sacrificial layer, forming a first spacer layer on the exposed first portion of the functional layer, forming an encapsulation layer above the first spacer layer, and vapor etching the encapsulated first spacer layer to form a first gap between the functional layer and the encapsulation layer.

  • Patent number: 7802703
Abstract: A three part container system. The first part is an outer rigid container formed with a mouth defining an opening into the outer container. The second part is an inner container positioned within the outer container, the inner container formed with a mouth defining an opening into the inner container, the mouth of the inner container being positioned in and sealed to or adjacent to the mouth of the outer container, at least a portion of the inner container being collapsible so that the inner container can be filled with a liquid. The third part is a turret fitted directly or indirectly by way of the outer container to the mouth of the inner container. The turret contains a one way valve so that if the inner container contains a liquid and the collapsible portion of the inner container is held above the turret, the fluid in the inner container will flow through the one way valve and out of the mouth of the turret as the inner container collapses within the outer container.

  • Patent number: 5806697
Abstract: A fitment removal prevention device for insertion within a container having a rigid mouth portion. The device has a body portion and an incompressible member movable with respect to the body portion and biased from a first position, in which the device is insertable into the container, to a second position, in which the incompressible member engages the container and exerts a force on the mouth portion of the container in a first direction having a component transverse to the direction of extraction of the device from the container. Upon attempted extraction of the fitment removal prevention device from the container, the incompressible member exerts an increased force on the mouth portion of the container in the first direction, thereby retaining the device in the container.

  • Patent number: 5586589
Abstract: A refillable closed container that cannot be refilled without the use of a special mechanism. The refillable closed container system comprises a valve body secured in an opening of the container, a flow passage through the valve body for permitting flow into and out of the container, a magnetically attractable valve member in the valve body, and a magnet carrier. The valve member is movable between a closed position for blocking flow through the passage and an open position for permitting flow through the passage. The magnet carrier carries a magnet for magnetically moving the valve member toward an open position when the magnet carrier is secured to the container to permit refilling of the container.

  • Patent number: 4307811
Abstract: A security stopper or other closure for a bottle comprises a valve which rests upon its seat except when the contents of a bottle are to be poured out through the stopper which thereby serves as a dispenser. The valve and seat arrangement is located at the lower portion of the plug-like body, the upper portion of which is provided from top to bottom with an upper baffle, an intermediate grill and a lower baffle to prevent access to the valve by a tool inserted through the pouring spout of the dispenser and thereby precluding refilling by dislocation of the valve.
