With Liquid Seal At Closure Seat On Receptacle Patents (Class 215/234)
  • Patent number: 8523837
Abstract: The invention comprises a novel apparatus for delivering a nutritive substance comprising a container body having a base at one end, an upper portion adapted for removable receipt of a closure, the upper portion defining an opening therein, and a chamber defined by the container body, the chamber being in fluid communication with the opening. A laminate seal having at least two layers is bonded across the opening and is adapted to provide an airtight seal across the opening and prevent contact between said nutritive substance and the contents of said container until said seal is altered. The laminate seal comprises a first layer permanently bonded to a rim defining the opening in the upper portion and a second layer that is releasably coupled to the first layer. A nutritive substance is bonded to the first layer. The container additionally comprises a closure removably coupled to the upper portion.

  • Patent number: 7717280
Abstract: An aft closure assembly manufactured from two separate and distinct pieces made from different materials is provided for a rocket motor case. The aft closure assembly includes at least a retaining ring piece made from a first material similar to or having a coefficient of thermal expansion similar to that of the motor case. The aft closure assembly includes a blast tube and closure piece that can be manufactured from a second material that does not need to be similar to nor have a coefficient of thermal expansion similar to the motor case and retaining ring piece. This is possible because the blast tube and closure piece includes a face seal that seals against a face of the retaining ring.

A nutritive substance is coated onto an element selected from the group consisting of an inner surface of the container upper portion, the closure, an insert positioned above the seal, and combinations thereof. The seal prevents contact between the nutritive substance and the contents of the container until the seal is removed or pierced.

  • Patent number: 7144739
Abstract: A pressure-sealing, pressure-monitoring closure for non-invasively sealing a reaction vessel to a defined release pressure in microwave-assisted chemistry is disclosed. The closure includes a pressure-resistant, microwave-transparent reaction vessel, one portion of which defines a mouth, a flexible pressure-transmitting releasable cover assembly on the mouth of the vessel, a pressure transducer on the cover and external to the vessel for monitoring the pressure in the vessel as exerted against the flexible cover, and a clamp for urging the vessel, the cover and the transducer together under a defined force so that when the pressure in the vessel exceeds the defined force, the cover can flex and release the pressure from the vessel.

  • Patent number: 5683658
Abstract: A reagent bottle suitable for insertion into a sample analyzer features a sample discharge opening plugged by an elastic, pierceable stopper, and an air inlet. Both the sample discharge opening and the air inlet are located on the same side of the reagent bottle, the axes of the two openings running parallel to each other, such that both openings can be docked onto corresponding sampling and air inlet elements of the analyzer in one and the same working process when the reagent bottle is inserted into the analyzer. The elastic stopper is covered on its outside by a protective foil and has a recess at a puncturing site enabling the sampling element to puncture the foil more easily. Bordering on the recess of the stopper is an area which is prepunctured but offers a tight elastic seal.

  • Patent number: 5150802
Abstract: A cap apparatus includes a cylindrical cap body hingedly mounting a lid thereto, wherein the lid includes a rigid lid arm projecting exteriorly of the lid, including an "L" shaped spring leg arranged to maintain the lid arm in an orthogonal orientation relative to a conduit bore directed through the cap body. A conical piercing cone is mounted to a bottom surface of the lid projecting interiorly of the conduit bore to effect piercing of a seal member of an associated container, wherein the cap body includes a plurality of spring clips arranged to secure the cap body relative to the associated container. A modification of the invention includes the cap member apparatus defined as spaced flanges utilizing a piercing cone coaxially aligned with a presser plate to effect the clamping and piercing of a fluid container therebetween.
