Publication number: 20090194561Abstract: In a method for distribution and dispensing of beverages, a one-way system is used including a disposable and freestanding container (100) blow moulded in one piece from a preform of plastics, and a tube structure having a tube (136) to be inserted in the container and a closure cap (102). The thin-walled container (100) is filled with beverage by means of the tube (136) and then closed by the closure cap (102). This filled unit (100, 102, 136) is distributed to the end user and connected to standard beverage dispensing means (138). After use, the empty container (100) is collapsed and discarded along with the tube structure which also is made of plastics.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2006Publication date: August 6, 2009Applicant: REXAM PETAINER LIDKOPING ABInventor: Mikael Quasters

Patent number: 5390832Abstract: Carbonated and non-carbonated beverages are selectively dispensed under the driving force of a one time charge of pressurized inert gas inserted into the headspace of the beverage container at the time of bottling/canning. The gas, preferably nitrogen, is inert to the beverage liquid and is pressurized sufficiently to permit dispensing of all of the liquid from the container via a siphon tube. A cap valve seals the container and includes an elastomeric check valve preventing escape of gas while permitting the siphon tube to be inserted into the container. A throttling and diffusing valve controls outflow from the siphon tube to ambient and prevents fracturing of gas from the beverage liquid to minimize foaming/frothing.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 1993Date of Patent: February 21, 1995Inventor: Samuel N. Lombardo

Patent number: 4694975Abstract: A method and apparatus for storing and dispensing fluids such as syphon seltzer water under about 10 atmospheres of pressure. A plastic bottle is provided in which a valve mechanism is inserted within the neck of the bottle. A disposable cap covers the end of the bottle to prevent contamination of the valve during storage. When the contents of the bottle are to be dispensed, the cap is removed and discarded and a head member is attached to the outside wall of the neck of the bottle. The head contains a valve actuation mechanism which opens the valve and the liquid is dispensed through a nozzle in the head. The head may be removed when the contents of the bottle are dispensed or at any time before being fully dispensed. The bottle is discarded or recycled and the head member is detached and reattached to a full bottle of liquid, such as syphon seltzer water.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1986Date of Patent: September 22, 1987Assignee: McKesson CorporationInventor: Richard J. Patent number: 4671436Abstract: A syphon package (12) incorporates a deformable, resilient plastic sealing member (42) which, in its normal position, blocks passageway (50) for dispensing seltzer water (32) stored under pressure in the package (12). Tube (30), valve sealing member (42) and insert (44) are assembled by bonding insert (44) to flange (40) with sealing member (42) in place. The resulting assembly is then bonded to interior wall (22) of necked opening (16). A syphon head (24) has a one-piece actuator (60) bonded to body (28), with actuating rod (62) supported on resilient diaphragm (64) for downward movement by lever (74) to deform sealing member (42) out of sealing engagement with passageway (50).Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1984Date of Patent: June 9, 1987Assignee: McKesson CorporationInventor: Richard J.
