Patent number: 6164473Abstract: A container can be configured as either a bottle or a drinking vessel. The bottle has a base which is detachable. A drinking vessel is formed by removing the base from the hollow body of the bottle, inverting the hollow body of the bottle, and reattaching the top of the bottle to the base. In the bottle configuration, a locking band connects the base of the bottle to the hollow body of the bottle. The locking band also acts as a tamper-evident seal.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1998Date of Patent: December 26, 2000Inventor: R. Leland Waldrip

Patent number: 6126024Abstract: A convertible cup, connectable to a vacuum bottle, is provided including a dome-shaped cover part and a cup-shaped vessel part. The dome-shaped cover part has first threads, a first opening for the dispensing of liquids, and a second opening for the intake of air. A cup-shaped vessel part has second threads suitable for connection to the first threads. When the second threads are connected to the first threads, the cup-shaped vessel part may be nested inside the dome-shaped cover part thereby forming a cup with an open top. The cup-shaped vessel part also has third threads suitable for connecting to the first threads. When the third threads are connected to the first threads, the cup-shaped vessel part and the dome-shaped cover part form a chamber. The convertible cup may also include fourth threads on the dome-shaped vessel part for connecting to a vacuum bottle.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1998Date of Patent: October 3, 2000Assignee: The Thermos CompanyInventors: Frankie Ramirez, Chris Gielow, Ann Marie Conrado, Craig Scherer

Patent number: 5634714Abstract: A fluid mixing system is provided to permit rapid mixing of a prestored powdered substance such as powdered milk with a liquid in which, in one embodiment, baby bottles are stacked one atop the other in fluid communication, with an internally carried stemmed disk preventing powdered contents of the upper bottle from entering the liquid carried by the lower bottle until the stemmed disk is dislodged from the aperture between the bottles, the stemmed disk falling into the lower bottle such that the mixing can occur without opening or separating the two bottles. The invention thus allows the separate storage of two pre-measured fluent materials within the same container, and to facilitate the mixing and dispensing of those materials at a later time without opening the container. The benefits of this are that the user can prepare in advance mixtures of materials which, if stored in a combined state, will sour, harden, or otherwise become usable without mixing the two ingredients until the time of use.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1995Date of Patent: June 3, 1997Inventor: William Guild
