    Abstract: The invention relates to an electric arc-blast nozzle for a circuit breaker comprising a middle portion forming a throat defining internally an axial passage for interrupting an electric arc, and two end portions extending on either side of the middle portion and being designed to receive respective arcing contacts and that are movable axially relative to each other. The middle portion and the two end portions are made of a same dielectric material obtained from a composition consisting of a fluorocarbon polymer matrix and of at least one oxide, the oxide(s) being present in a proportion by weight lying in the range 11% to 50%, relative to the total weight of the composition. The invention also relates to a circuit breaker including such a nozzle.

    Abstract: A puffer type gas circuit breaker wherein an insulated nozzle made of heat proof resin and a movable arc contact are mounted on a puffer cylinder to perform an open/close operation of the contact. The insulated nozzle is divided into three areas of a downstream area, an area in the vicinity of the throat and an upstream area. The downstream area and the upstream area are made of heat proof resin alone, while the area in the vicinity of the throat is formed of heat proof resin mixed with an inorganic material such as boron nitride. A movable arc contact cover made of heat proof resin having a downstream area and an upstream area is provided between the insulated nozzle and the movable arc contact, and only the downstream area of the contact cover is made of heat proof resin mixed with inorganic material.

    Abstract: A high-voltage power breaker includes two arcing contact pieces which are separated from one another when disconnected and between which an arc is struck in an arcing area. The arcing area is filled with a quenching gas, where the quenching gas has been heated by the arc flowing out from a constriction point of an insulating nozzle. The insulating nozzle surrounds the arcing area, through at least one outlet flow channel which has a number of areas which the quenching gas passes through successively. The first area which faces the constriction point of the nozzle has a specific flow resistance which is less than that of the constriction point. The first area in the outlet flow direction of the quenching gas is followed by at least one second area, one third area and one fourth area. The specific flow resistance of the second and fourth areas are each greater than the specific flow resistance of the immediately preceding area in the outlet flow direction.

    Abstract: An electric switch includes a first arcing contact surrounded by a puffer break chamber in which the gas is pressurized by the thermal effect, and a second arcing contact movable along an axial direction relative to the first arcing contact. The break chamber includes an inner partition separating a first compartment of fixed volume from a second compartment of smaller volume, both compartments being filled with the gas under pressure and each possessing an orifice to blast the arc, the orifices being separate and placed in series along the axial direction. Each compartment is connected to its own orifice via a respective blast channel. The compartments communicate with each other via a channel that is closed by an excess pressure vent device allowing gas at excess pressure to pass in one direction only from the smaller volume compartment to the larger volume compartment.

This arcing chamber is provided with a power current path which has two erosion contact arrangements (5, 6) which are arranged on the central axis (2), are at a constant distance from one another in the axial direction and bound an arcing zone. The arcing chamber also has a heating area (13), which is connected to the arcing zone, and a bridging contact which electrically conductively connects the erosion contact arrangements (5, 6) in the connected state. The bridging contact is arranged centrally in the interior of the erosion contact arrangements (5, 6). An annular gap (36) is provided between the erosion contact arrangements (5, 6) and opens directly into the heating area (13). In this power breaker, the flow behavior is significantly improved in the region between the arcing zone and the heating area (13).
