Patent number: 6320166Abstract: A cooking apparatus in a form of a container includes an outer shell and an inner shell wherein a cavity is provided by coupling the edges of the outer and inner shells. The cavity is partially filled with a heat conductive medium, such as silicon oil. The cooking apparatus further includes an electric heating element installed under the container between the outer and inner shells. When energized, the heating element produces heat which in turn heats the silicon oil. The hot silicon oil heats the inner shell and thus cooks the food in the container. The outer shell of the container also has a pressure controlling member that is opened when a cavity pressure exceeds a predetermined value. The pressure controlling member comprises a spring housing securely affixed to the outer shell and defining a first through hole. The spring housing has a valve biased to open when a cavity pressure exceeds a predetermind value.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2000Date of Patent: November 20, 2001Inventor: Jong Do Peter Park

Patent number: 6283014Abstract: A dual-voltage, energy saving, electric pressure cooker is designed with a thermally insulated cooking pot, spaced-apart support on the bottom of the pot to prevent food from sticking to the bottom, a unique, hinged, sauce-pan style handle for sealing and unsealing the pot using one hand, a built-in modem that supports the remote operation of manual or preprogrammed cooking controls by telephone or computer. The energy saving is accomplished in a two-mode pressure cooking process. Cooking mode one is active heating or steaming for a short, but controlled period of time, as the liquid inside the pot reaches a temperature of approximately 120° C. (250° F.). Heating is then discontinued and foodstuffs are subsequently cooked to perfection in a second cooking mode wherein latent heat from the first cooking mode completes the cooking process without additional heat being added.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2000Date of Patent: September 4, 2001Inventors: Andrew Ng, Wing Tong Ng

Patent number: 4667085Abstract: A cooking pan having an inner shell and an outer shell between which is an oil filled cavity containing a heating element the inner shell being secured to the outer shell by a rolled beaded edge formed in such a manner that the free edges of the respective inner shell and outer shell are not in contact with one another because the outer margin of the inner shell has been pre-beaded, the outer margin of the outer shell has been folded, and the relationship between the two is such that the folded portion is spaced slightly from the pre-beaded portion. The oil filling hole is provided with a circumferential seat against which an O-ring is urged by a cup-shaped plug for the hole backed by a spring and spring retainer held in position by a handle bracket provided with a spring retainer backing plate so that the oil filling hole plug functions also as a relief valve which is completely concealed beneath the handle.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1985Date of Patent: May 19, 1987Assignee: Regal Ware, Inc.Inventors: Wayne R. Patent number: 4590361Abstract: A food frying apparatus includes a housing having a front side, a vessel mounted within the housing to contain oil, the vessel having an expansion zone adjacent the front side, and an oil heating container connected to the vessel, the container being positioned adjacent the front side and in communication with the expansion zone. An electrical heater is mounted on the exterior of the container to indirectly heat oil therein. The oil is forcibly circulated between the vessel and the container by means of a motor mounted beneath the container and a rotor coaxially mounted within the container and coupled to the motor. A plug is axially insertable into the top of the container, and an upper end of the rotor is connected to the plug for axial movement therewith. The rotor has a lower end connected to the motor to enable relative telescopic sliding movement therebetween to achieve coupling or uncoupling.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 1985Date of Patent: May 20, 1986Assignee: Zanussi Grandi Impianti S.p.A.Inventor: Claudio Del Fabbro
