  • Patent number: 10406581
Abstract: An induction heating coil for stably heating a steel tube which is being fed in its axial direction without rotating, the heating being uniform in the circumferential direction and in a narrow range in the axial direction has at least two 1-turn coils in the form of a first turn coil body and a second turn coil body. The inner peripheral length Ln (the non-effective coil length) where the effective number of coil turns is less than the total number of coil turns when the coil is projected in the axial direction and the inner peripheral length L0 of the projected coil bodies (the inner coil length) satisfy Ln/L0<0.05. First and second coil bodies have insulating portions on their connecting portions, and the insulating portions are present in locations separated by a central angle of 5-45° measured from the center of the coil bodies.

  • Patent number: 8921743
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system for monitoring a heating apparatus that includes a motion detector configured to determine whether a person is proximate the heating apparatus. The motion detector is default deactivated. Further disclosed is a heat sensor configured to determine whether the heating apparatus has a temperature that is above a threshold. The heat sensor is default deactivated. A processor is in operable communication with each of the motion detector and the heat sensor configured to cyclically repeat a first countdown. The heat sensor is temporarily activated once during each of the repeated first countdowns. The processor is configured to perform a second countdown when the activated heat sensor determines that the heating apparatus has the temperature that is above the threshold. The second countdown is reset each time the motion detector determines that a person is proximate the heating apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7417209
Abstract: A system and method for preventing crosstalk noise from being superimposed on a read signal due to noise from a heater line for a slider in a recording disk drive is disclosed. A heater line pair to the slider is not grounded but is in a floating state with respect to an actuator support structure. A heater driver allows a heater current to flow between a positive power supply voltage and a negative power supply voltage. The heater line pair is not grounded, so an impedance is high as viewed from a magnetic disk. Thus, it is possible to effectively suppress a noise transmitted from the magnetic disk and read signal quality is kept from deteriorating due to the crosstalk from the heater line.

  • Patent number: 7412757
Abstract: The Dove-Tail Sizing Stock with Solder Pockets includes the technique of increasing or reducing the size of a circular object, such as a finger ring. The sizing stock includes dovetail shaped ends with pockets of solder on each end. The solder that is inserted into the holes drilled into the dove-tail crevices on each end of the sizing stock is of the same color, karat and hardness as the sizing stock. The sizing stock will be of the same material, color, karat and hardness as the circular object or finger ring to be sized. It will be understood that the foregoing description is for illustration purposes only. Other adaptations and uses of the invention may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.

  • Patent number: 7015434
Abstract: A method whereby magnetic and nonmagnetic materials can be joined together firmly and having their joining areas freed from embrittlement and with a minimum of deformation is disclosed. Applied to the process of fitting a ring of nonmagnetic material into an annular space formed between an inner and an outer member each made of magnetic material, the method includes bringing an inner and an outer peripheral surface of the ring of nonmagnetic material each into a semi-molten state and bringing the inner and outer peripheral surfaces of the ring of nonmagnetic material into pressure contact with the inner and outer members, respectively, to join the inner and outer peripheral surfaces to the inner and outer members, respectively, by interfacial fusion.

  • Patent number: 6875964
Abstract: There is disclosed herein an apparatus for electromagnetic forming, joining or welding a workpiece, the apparatus including at least two multi-turn solenoid coils wound in a manner that cooperatively encircles the workpiece to be formed. The apparatus also includes an electrically insulative shell encasing each coil and an electromagnetic current source electrically connected to the coils that generates an electromagnetic field. A hinge mechanism connects the insulative shells and a locking mechanism secures the shells and coils around the workpiece during electromagnetic field generation. A conductive rod joins the solenoid coils and permits series current flow between the coils. The apparatus further includes a shaper that encircles the workpiece and which restricts movement of the workpiece during electromagnetic forming. The shaper concentrates the generated electromagnetic field on the workpiece.
