  • Patent number: 8286367
Abstract: A system for continuous (re-)drying of wood pieces. A conveyor arrangement receives and carries the wood pieces in file following a course. A moisture content of each wood piece travelling on the conveyor arrangement is measured during the course. The wood pieces whose measured moisture content are above a target content are diverted towards a drying equipment, in particular by high-frequency, whereas the other wood pieces continue their course on the conveyor arrangement. The drying equipment removes a moisture portion from the diverted wood pieces. The moisture contents of the processed wood pieces are again measured. The pieces whose moisture content dropped below the target content are routed towards the conveyor arrangement whereas the other pieces are routed in the drying equipment for a re-drying.

  • Patent number: 6914226
Abstract: RF energy provided by electrodes positioned between a product is used to heat a product that exhibits a variable impedance during the heating process. As the product's impedance changes during the heating process, RF heating system impedance can be maintained constant by adjusting the distance between the electrodes, adjusting the impedance of a variable impedance device connected between the RF power source and an electrode, or a combination of electrode distance adjustment and impedance adjustment of the variable impedance device. The system is particularly applicable to the heating or pasteurization of bulk food products with multiple heating zones.

  • Patent number: 5420404
Abstract: An apparatus and method for drying, by heating, a continuous supply of dielectric material. A terminated, quarter-wavelength transmission line is used as a "traveling wave" applicator for transferring electromagnetic energy from a radio-frequency generator to the dielectric material as the material passes through the transmission line, preferably by gravity feed. The transmission line applicator is directly connected to the output of the radio-frequency generator, without any intervening feeding transmission line, so that the transmission line applicator becomes the resonant output tank circuit of the generator and thus determines the oscillation frequency of the generator. Forced air may be blown through the dielectric material as it flows through the transmission line so as to sweep moisture, driven to the surface of the dielectric material by heating, from the flowing dielectric material.
