One-way, Outwardly Venting Pressure Relief Valve Patents (Class 220/203.29)
  • Patent number: 6776301
Abstract: A cap with a way-one valve solves two distinct problems in the field of packaging materials that emit gasses, providing both a means to prevent a package from deforming under pressure built up inside the package, and a means to reseal the package. The cap comprises an inner wall extending downwardly from an inner portion of the top wall to define a cavity. An insert valve is mounted within the cavity, forming a seal with the inside wall. The upper surface of the insert valve, inner wall, and the top wall define a chamber with a gas escape path. A septum is disposed within the chamber, the septum seated on the insert valve and sealing one or more apertures in the insert valve. The septum is capable of at least partially unseating in response to force exerted by increased gas pressure acting through the apertures.

  • Patent number: 6732878
Abstract: A lid apparatus for a tank opening that retains fluid within the tank while allowing air to vent into or out of the tank. An air manifold is provided, preferably as part of an installation ring of the apparatus which is mounted to the tank around the tank opening. The air manifold has an outer radial wall and an inner radial wall spanned by an annular base surface. A plurality of angularly spaced openings in the outer radial wall are angularly offset from a plurality of openings in the inner radial wall to be out of angular alignment therewith, and the space above the annular base surface between the outer radial wall openings and the inner radial wall openings provides a plurality of air flow passageways. A cap of the apparatus has a cover portion and a depending mounting member adapted to insert within the installation ring and engage a cap mounting portion of that ring to detachably mount the cap to the installation ring.

  • Patent number: 6669047
Abstract: A pressure cooker handle assembly that relieves pressure in the cooker and unlocks the lid by pushing a single button twice. The button includes a tab that directly activates a pressure relief valve to release the pressure and a leg that depresses a stopbar to unlock the lid. Pressing of the button a first time releases the pressure in the cooker, but does not unlock the lid. A latch system prevents the cooker from again building pressure once the button is pressed. When the button is pressed a second time the leg depresses the stopbar to unlock the lid from the cooker.

  • Patent number: 6662827
Abstract: A membrane type pressure relief valve for packaging containers. The valve comprises a plastic overlay that is formed in a way that causes the center portion of the valve to be pre-stressed when applied to a base sheet or a package wall. The forming of the overlay and its subsequent deformation after application to the base sheet or package wall causes the overlay to act as a mechanical assist to close the valve when the valve oil does not fully force the valve closed.

  • Patent number: 6609630
Abstract: A leak-proof closure (10) for dispensing liquid beverages from a container. The closure (10) contains a outlet passage (14) which is open at both ends. Within outlet passage (14) there is a membrane (13) which denies communication between the interior of the container and the flow opening (15). When external suction is applied to the end of outlet passage (14), membrane (13) sealingly disengages from circumferential seal member (12). This allows the contained beverage to egress through the flow opening (15). When the external suction is removed, membrane (13) automatically sealingly engages with circumferential seal member (12).

  • Publication number: 20030062371
Abstract: The reservoir includes a tank having an inlet, and a cap for covering the inlet. The cap further comprises an outer portion, an inner portion, a labyrinth, a protruding portion, a vent hole and a check valve. The inner portion is arranged in the outer portion to define the labyrinth therebetween. The labyrinth is opened to outside of the tank. The protruding portion is formed on the center of the inner portion to protrude in a direction of the inside of the tank, in which the vent hole is formed to communicate between inside of the tank and the labyrinth. The check valve is arranged on an upper end of the vent hole, and is constructed to permit the communication of air through the vent hole and to prevent a leak of the fluid through the vent hole.

  • Patent number: 6491176
Abstract: A sealing valve 10 for container openings made from rubber elastic material and having a stopper member 11 which can be introduced into the container opening up to a stopper collar 12 projecting beyond the stopper member 11 in a radial direction 26. At least one control channel 16 is formed on the stopper member 11 and extends in the direction of the longitudinal axis 24 of sealing valve 10 from one end of the stopper member 11 facing an inner region of the container 20. A sealing lip 15 is formed on the stopper collar 11 and can seat in a sealing fashion on a container edge 25 surrounding the container opening. The stopper collar 12 has a control channel section 29 transverse to the control channel 16 of a stopper member 11 which extends this control channel 16 up to the sealing lip 15. A reliable venting is guaranteed while simultaneously securing sealing to prevent the escape of battery liquids. Economical production with large yield is also facilitated.

  • Patent number: 6478178
Abstract: An improved stopper apparatus for use with wine barrel bung holes includes a generally frusto-conical stopper member having a central aperture, a top surface, a bottom surface, and an outer circumferential surface adapted to seal against the inner circumferential surface of the bung hole. The apparatus further includes a sealing insert member having a top portion, a middle portion, and a bottom portion, the top portion having a diameter slightly greater than the stopper member central aperture such that the sealing insert member can be pushed into the central aperture so as to bring the top surface of the sealing insert member with the top surface and the stopper member during barrel aging. The sealing insert member further has a lower surface adapted for sealing engagement against the stopper member top surface during barrel fermentation.

  • Patent number: 6435367
Abstract: The invention relates to a closing cap (10) for the fixed tubing of a motor vehicle radiator, comprising an inner part (14) with a flow connection means between the inside and the outside of the container, as well as a distributing mechanism for freeing and closing the flow connection means. A valve body (22) of the distributing mechanism (11), which can be reciprocated, is compressed under pre-stress towards the inside of the container against a sealing seat (21) at the inner part (14) of the cap, so that said valve body can be lifted from said sealing seat (21) when a threshold value of the pressure inside the container is exceeded.

  • Patent number: 6349842
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rotatable cover which can be screwed or plugged on and is to be fastened on a stationary connection of a motor vehicle radiator or compensator reservoir of cooling and heating systems. The cover has a screw or plug cap and/or swivel cap and a rotatable engagement part in which a valve in the form of a combined overpressure/underpressure unit is arranged concentrically. The valve has a sealing member which produces a sealing connection with the stationary connection when the cover is applied. When the cover is positioned on the stationary connection, it is possible to prevent by means of a temperature-related control member removal, such as unscrewing or twisting of the cover. The temperature-related control member or a coupling part actuated by means of the temperature-related control member can be moved substantially radially between a coupling position and a release position.
