Abstract: A storage container with self-retaining lid includes a lid and a storage container. The structure for attaching the lid can be molded on to the bottom of the storage container, molded to the top of the lid, or molded to the lid and the bottom of the storage container. There are several preferred embodiments of the self-retaining lid. In a first preferred embodiment, the lid has a rim with a recessed cavity for receiving a lip of the storage container. In second and seventh preferred embodiments, a bottom of the storage container has a lip which is sized to be inserted into a sealing cavity of the lid. In a third preferred embodiment, a bottom of the storage container has a plurality of balls which are disposed to mate with a plurality of sockets. In a fourth preferred embodiment, a plurality of hooks are molded into at least two sides of the container and sized to receive the peripheral edge of the lid.

The pull-cap (14) has a sealing portion (20) for covering the opening-for-drinking (16) of the lid body (12) and for sealing the periphery of the opening-for-drinking (16), and a pull-tab portion (21) formed integrally with the sealing portion (20). The sealing portion (20) has an easy-to-peel layer. A holding groove portion is formed in the lid body (12) at a location different from the location of the opening-for-drinking (16), and a pull-cap holding section for holding the pull-cap (14) peeled off is formed at the holding groove portion.

Abstract: A nursing bottle contains a cap which is also designed and positioned to further have a propping function whereby an infant can suck on a nipple by merely grasping the nursing bottle, but without lifting it. By providing a secondary location for fixing the cap to the bottle, the possible loss of the cap can be avoided.

Abstract: Cookware lid and handle assemblies include a lid which may include a whistle knob assembly which provides an audible indication upon reaching cooking temperature. The whistle knob assembly includes a steam deflector portion to reduce burn danger to the user, and has a simplified structure and assembly method. The vessel includes a pair of side handles, and the lid includes a pair of finger protectors which may overlie the side handles. Each set of side handle and finger protector have a unique mating relationship. As such, in the mated position a lid rim rest upon a vessel rim. The lid may be rotated 180 degrees to rest non-mating finger protector and side handles. This lack of mating relationship causes the lid to be spaced upward, permitting venting or draining of the interior. The finger protectors may also fit within a handle aperture in the side handle.

Abstract: A device for retaining the blank or sealing lid of a split cap used to cap a fluid container having an invertible spout. The device includes various means for ensuring that the blank will be retained in close proximity to the user so that it will not be lost. This is achieved by modifying the blank either to enable affixing it directly to the container, or to configure it to be easily attached to a site close to the container. The retaining device includes a threaded section affixed to the blank for coupling the blank to the standard vent port of a container. Optionally, the retaining device includes a tethering hole located in the gripping flange of the blank to enable tethering of the blank to the container or to a shop hanger. Alternative designs of the retaining device include placing attachment devices on the underside of the blank and on the container, such as hook-and-loop couplings, male/female nipple sets, and magnetized components.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a cooking instrument that has a lid which may be secured to a vessel. The present invention is also directed to a method for securing a lid to a vessel. The cooking instrument includes a vessel, a lid, a first flange, and a second flange. The vessel has a base and a wall. The wall extends upward from the base to define a first opening, and the wall has an outer surface which is substantially cylindrical. The lid is adapted to cover the first opening of the vessel. The lid has a top and a rim. The rim extends downward from the top to define a second opening, and the rim has an inner surface which is substantially cylindrical. The first flange and the second flange enable the lid to be secured to the vessel. The first flange is attached to the outer surface of the vessel, and the second flange is attached to the inner surface of the lid. The base of the vessel may be placed a predetermined depth inside the second opening of the lid.

Abstract: An outdoor assembly exposed to rain water has an enclosure and a cover. A first mounting means for the cover installs the cover to form a barrier to rain water for the enclosure rendering it drip proof or water proof. A second mounting means for the cover on the enclosure installs the cover to form a rain shield for the enclosure. The first mounting means allows opening or rotation of the cover about a vertical axis thus allowing access to the enclosure. The second mounting means releasingly engages the cover with respect to the enclosure generally at a right angle to the vertical direction, thus providing a rain shield for the enclosure.

Abstract: A hingeless lid for use with a container can be closed by a child while reducing the likelihood of a freefalling lid. The hingeless lid can be used with a toy box or any application that includes a horizontal and vertical lid position, and especially where it is desirable to reduce the likelihood of a freefalling lid. The hingeless lid of the invention includes a plurality of hingeless couplers, each coupler including a container portion having a plurality of ridges and pivots and a lid portion having a plurality of W-shaped members depending downwardly from the bottom surface of the lid. The W-shaped members include a first plurality of saddles for engaging the ridges and a second plurality of saddles for engaging the pivots. The engagement of the saddles and the ridges retains the lid against back-and-forth horizontal movement when the lid is in a closed position.

The plug can be inserted in the dispensing aperture and retained therein by engagement of the container wall by the plug flange and bead. A tab extends from the container and defines a storage aperture for receiving the plug for storage after removal of the plug from the dispensing aperture. The tab may also include an aperture for receiving a hook by which the package can be hung in an inverted orientation.

Abstract: In a waterproof case in which a hood (1) contains a connector (P) to prevent the connector from being exposed to water, a cap (4) is for closing an opening portion 10a of the hood and has an end which is rotatably held to the hood through a mounting linkage (5) so that the opening portion can be opened and closed one at a time. A lever (6) is rotatably mounted to the hood at an end thereof. A locking linkage (7) is rotatably mounted at an end thereof to an intermediate portion which is between both ends of the lever. When the lever is rotated by operating the other end with the other end of the locking linkage engaged with the other end of the cap in the state of closing the opening portion, the cap is kept to a condition in which the opening portion is closed.

Abstract: A prop for propping the lid of a trash bin in a partially open position includes a frame having an elongated slot. The prop is mounted on a trash bin by inserting the lid hinge rod of the bin through the slot. When mounted on a trash bin, the prop can be moved in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the lid hinge rod, the rod sliding laterally in the slot. The prop can thus be moved between a position in which it supports the lid in a partially open position and a position in which the lid can be swung fully open. When the prop is in the former position, two arms, one or both of which may be integral to the frame, extend generally perpendicularly away from the axis of the hinge rod. In this position, one arm contacts the rear wall of the bin and the other contacts the lid of the bin. When the prop is moved to the other position, one of the arms disengages the portion of the bin with which it was it contact. The lid can then be freely swung to any position.

The transporter includes a top cap which operationally engages a bottom container in a transverse direction that provides an additional plane of support and pushes the diskettes upward to different heights in order to facilitate easier selection and review. Abstract: A fuel cap tether apparatus on a motor vehicle having a body panel with an access opening or port therein, a fuel tube including a neck behind the access opening, a fuel door mounted on the vehicle for pivotal movement between open and closed positions exposing and concealing, respectively, the access opening, and a fuel cap closing the fuel tube neck and removable therefrom in response to twisting of the fuel cap relative to the fuel tube neck. The fuel cap tether apparatus includes a string-like flexible tether having a first end rigidly connected to the vehicle and a second end connected to the fuel cap such that the latter is rotatable relative to the tether and a hook on the fuel door disposed laterally outboard of the body panel surrounding the fuel tube access opening when the fuel door is in its open position. After the fuel cap is removed, the tether is hung in the hook and the fuel cap released.

The container has multiple walls displaced from each other creating annular pockets. The annular pocket that is nearest the chamber is filled with a freeze gel and the outer annular pocket is filled with an insulating foam. The open top of the container has external threads and the mouth of the lid is internally threaded with mating threads. The lid can be screwed onto the container to hold a two-liter bottle in place within the chamber. The dome of the lid has a hole with the neck of the two-liter bottle passing through the hole so that beverage contained within the two-liter bottle can be poured directly from the bottle as it is held in the cooler. The hole in the dome is internally threaded so that the cooler can also function as a container without an inserted two-liter bottle. In the latter case, a pour spout is provided with a threaded plug and a spout.

Abstract: A molded plastic container top has an upper surface from which extends an extensible dispensing tube with a liquid dispensing orifice. The orifice is closed by a removable closure in the form of a cap-like, hollow, open-ended body. A plug is formed integrally with the upper surface and extends upwardly therefrom. Extending upwardly from the plug is an integral, cylindrical, rod-like stopper extension. In the preferred embodiment, the plug is axially fluted, with three radial vanes, dimensioned to be received into the interior of the closure to retain the closure thereon with a frictional fit. The stopper extension is dimensioned to be received within dispensing orifice with a fluid-tight fit, so as to provide an alternative closure for the orifice when the dispensing tube is extended to bring the orifice into the proximity of the stopper extension.

Abstract: A magnetic fuel tank cap is provided for closing off the filling inlet tube of a motor vehicle which consists of an externally threaded cylindrical shank, which threadably engages with the filling inlet tube of the motor vehicle. A head is secured to the shank and is larger than the shank. When the head is turned to drive the shank into the filling inlet tube, the head will seal the filling inlet tube. A magnet is on top of the head for releasably connecting the head, when inverted, to a metallic part of the motor vehicle after the shank is removed from the filling inlet tube. In other embodiments adaptors are provided to releasably connect the head of a conventional fuel tank cap to the metallic part of the motor vehicle.

The needle-retaining material is a soft material, similar to art gum eraser material, which is soft enough for a needle to penetrate yet sticky enough to retain the needle when the needle is released from the syringe. The tray comprises a base, a pair of side walls, a handle extending from one side wall for easy transport of the tray, and the supply of needle-retaining material. The needle-retaining material in the tray may be presented in two different forms, either as a contiguous supply of strips in the tray or as individual small cup-like depressions each containing a small amount.

A lid 26 is threadably removably attachable to the body 14 for blocking the orifice 20 and preventing access to a waste disposal container 12 upon which the cover 10 is placed. A plurality of posts 36,38,40,42 are provided on the top 16 of the planar body 14 for releasably holding the lid 26 in a fixed storage position on the body when the lid 26 is not in its operative position of the body.

The adaptor incudes a nozzle portion, a base including a flexible skirt portion for engaging the leading end of the caulking tube, a cap for closing and sealing the open end of the nozzle, and an elongated pin secured in the cap and extending into the nozzle portion. The cap can be attached to the base with a flexible strip or cord to prevent loss. The adaptor slides over the leading end of the caulking tube and prevents air from leaking into the caulking tube.

Abstract: In accordance with the preferred embodiment, the invention provides a rotationally resistive pail, pail support and coupling. The apparatus includes a pail, and a lid for closing the pail in a closing position, and for supporting the pail in a supporting and locking position. The pail has notches in the base of the pail. The lid has corresponding lugs for vertical interlocking and rotationally resistive engagement with the notches when the lid is in the supporting position. When the lid is in the supporting position, the lid supports the pail vertically and laterally, and the mating engagement of the lid and pail resists relative rotation between the lid and the pail.

Abstract: A picnic cooking assembly includes a skillet, a cooking pan, and a kettle. The cooking pan nests within the skillet and the kettle nests within the skillet over the cooking pan. The valve is fluidly coupled to the cylindrical container. The cap covers the valve when the aerosol can is not in use. The dispensing-tube may be fluidly coupled to the valve. The dispensing-tube and cap holder includes a curved, rectangular sheet having a front surface, a rear surface, a top edge, a bottom edge and two side edges. The length of the two side edges is slightly shorter than the length of the cylindrical container. The dispensing-tube and cap holder also includes a sheath, a tube-tensioning mechanism and a cap-holding mechanism. The sheath is disposed on one of two sides of the curved, rectangular sheet and holds the dispensing-tube.

The lid may be provided on its top surface with a fastener of hook-loop material for engaging a mating fastener on the holder to prevent loss of the lid during use of the dispenser.

Abstract: A chafing dish cover holder that is detachably supported on one of the horizontal side members of a chafer support frame. The chafing dish cover holder has an elongated upright oriented plate member having a flange extending downwardly from its top edge to allow it to be supported on the horizontal side member of the chafer support frame. A pair of chafer cover support arm assemblies extend from the top edge of the plate member and these form a resting position for the cover of a chafer when the cover is removed and oriented in an upright position.

In order to protect and safeguard the environment, the container is constructed of a catalytically resistant oil-impermeable steel with a special shape and arrangement to prevent spent catalyst and residual reactor oil from the resid hydrotreating unit from spilling, leaking, and accumulating on the nation's highways. The spent catalyst container has a rotatable truncated bin with a support frame to enhance the structural strength and integrity of the bin. The bin has monorail and bridge crane-receiving slots to alternatively receive the grab hooks of a monorail and a bridge crane to facilitate transport by both monorail and the bridge crane.

Abstract: A portable outdoor grill including a hemispherical bowl and a hemispherical lid with the bowl having outwardly-directed flanges supported on spaced side members of a cart. The side members have lid-supporting clips adjacent the bowl that support the lid in an upright position adjacent the bowl. The clips are held on the side members for limited longitudinal movement by offset ends on an article-support surface to be assemblable without the use of tools.

The storing and dereeling apparatus includes a container member in which a reel of magnet wire is placed with the axis thereof vertically disposed; and the apparatus includes a cover member. The cover member is automatically indexed to either of two rotational positions; and the cover member is releasably latched in a storage and transporting position wherein the cover member is adjacent to the spool of wire, to a preferred dereeling position wherein a space is provided intermediate of the reel of wire and the cover member to allow dereeling of the wire, and to an alternate dereeling position wherein the space between the reel of wire and the cover member is somewhat larger.

Basically, the improved garbage can assembly comprises a receptacle having a mouth, a lid having a flange which is complementary to and engageable around the mouth of the receptacle, and at least one handle pivotally mounted on the side wall of the receptacle adjacent to the mouth for both securing the lid over the mouth of the receptacle, and providing a closed loop structure for forming a hand grip. A tab lock means integrally connected to the lid is inserted into the closed loop of the handle and serves to anchor the lid to the receptacle whenever the lid is not engaged to the mouth of the receptacle.

Abstract: An end closure for a container for grated or powered products having a push open lid portion for providing access to material within the container and a rotatable closure portion for selectively closing off the opening defined by the push open lid portion. The push open lid portion includes elements on the openable lid portion which cooperate with corresponding gripping elements defined on the undersurface of the end closure so the latter will engage the former to retain the lid portion in its open disposition.
