  • Patent number: 10738945
Abstract: It is object of the invention to reduce the technical expenditure for refilling of gas bottles. For solving the problem, a claimed fitting comprises a gas tap for gas withdrawal and an opening for refilling a liquid gas bottle. The opening for refilling a liquid gas bottle can be connected, in particular by opening a valve, in a gas-conducting manner to a hose-shaped or tubular line of the fitting, which can extent into a liquid gas bottle by at least 300 mm, preferably at least 400 mm, if the fitting is connected with such a gas bottle. Hereby, it can achieved that the line extents into the liquefied part of the gas, which especially enables a very fast emptying though pumping. Emptying is necessary when a refilled gas bottle proves to be untight. A speed advantage is thereby achieved. Basically, there is an opening at the bottom side of the fitting adjacent to the hose-shaped or tubular line.

Abstract: In accordance with an aspect of the present disclosure, a conformable high pressure gas fuel storage system has a high pressure gaseous storage vessel with a central section disposed between end sections and in fluid communication therewith. The end and central sections have hollow geometric objects. The geometric objects have self-similarity providing the gas storage vessel with a fractal geometry. Each geometric object of each end section branches into a plurality of the geometric objects of the central section. The geometric objects of the central section have a smaller cross-section and thinner outer wall than the geometric objects of the end sections. The geometric objects of at least the central section are formable with bends to a configuration to conform the gas storage vessel to a space in a vehicle in which the gas storage vessel is packaged.

Abstract: A gas storage cartridge includes a sealed cartridge unit for storing a gas storage material. The gas storage cartridge is defined by a first slab, a peripheral wall, and a second slab. At least one gas-guiding channel is accommodated within a receptacle of the gas storage cartridge. The first slab has a first gas inlet/outlet port and the second slab has a second gas inlet/outlet port aligned with the gas-guiding channel. Consequently, a gas is guided into the receptacle through the gas-guiding channel to be adsorbed by the gas storage material within the receptacle of the gas storage cartridge. Alternatively, the gas released from the gas storage material can be guided to the first gas inlet/outlet port and the second gas inlet/outlet port through the gas-guiding channel.

Abstract: A sealing system for an outlet of a plastic-lined cylinder has a plastic liner outlet extending into a bore of a boss. An insert is engageable with the bore, forming a primary seal between the insert and portion of the liner outlet. Further, a tapered compression surface of the insert engages a tapered bore portion of the liner outlet adjacent the primary seal for compressing the liner outlet and closing any annular assembly clearance at the primary seal for obviating opportunity for seal extrusion under pressure. An axial position in the boss, and dimensional integrity, of the liner outlet is maintained by engaging an annular distal end of the liner outlet in the bore by a stop. The stop can be integral with the boss. Reverse extrusion of the primary seal due to trapped gas and rapid decompression of the cylinder can be defeated by providing a leak path.

Abstract: A high strength dual-swaged airbag inflator vessel comprising a high strength metal material, such as low carbon steel, has a swaged terminal end defining two distinct swaged portions. A reduction of diameter within one of the swaged portions is restricted to be less than or equal to about 30% and in certain variations, less than or equal to about 16% to minimize cold work strain hardening and to reduce loss of ductility. In certain aspects, a second swaged portion within the swaged terminal end has a length of less than or equal to about 10 mm. Methods for making such a dual-swaged airbag inflator vessel are likewise provided. Such dual swage designs have improved reliability and performance in high pressure inflator applications, as well as reduced manufacturing costs.
