The sheath has barrier properties to enclose the goods therein in protected relationship.

    Abstract: A thin walled, plastic bottle or other container having a high rupture strength comprises a length L having a top and a bottom, and width W. The integrity of the bottle or container is compromised by a post manufacture, complete transverse cut made parallel to the width W. The top is completely severed from the bottom at a point along the length L. The top may be discarded. The bottom is comprised of, in part, collapsible side walls. A generally annular insert rim is pressure fitted onto the top-cut member of the bottom, which is formed at the cut line, thus rigidly securing the side walls and preventing any collapse thereby. A cap or closure means is matably engagable with the insert rim to seal the container.

The upper edges of the lid are also rounded and run smoothly into the reinforcing wall. The lid includes ribs which, when the lid is placed on the lower part, come to lie onto corresponding ribs of the lower part. The lid is connected to the lower part by a snapping mechanism. The lid includes an opening, into which a ledge of the snapping mechanism can be snapped in. This ledge is accessible through this opening to release the ledge to disengage the opening.

A channel shaped retainer covers and is secured to the upper portion of the sidewalls containing flute rods in order to secure the flute rods between the two faces of plastic of the sidewall and prevent the flute rods from falling out of the flutes when the sleeve pack is inverted. The upholding means of the flute rods are supported by vertically oriented corrugations between the face plies of the sidewalls.

The box-like structure has a lid and a body with some of the extruded strips having a single cove for receiving a lower edge of each side of the lid and other extruded strips receiving an upper edge of each side of the body. Each of these extruded strips contains an area of a predetermined cross section for receiving an arm of an L-shaped bracket having the same predetermined section which strengthens and aligns the corner of the frame. This ability to align corners enables an elimination of a prior art practice of first installing a strip, cutting a notch in the strip, and then removing the notched material in order to mount hardware.
