Closure Flange Has Noninterlocking Contact Internal To Passage Mouth Patents (Class 220/792)
  • Publication number: 20020148847
Abstract: Apparatus includes a lid and a container/lid combination and associated methods, in which the lid may be used selectively for either dry or liquid-sealed applications. For liquid-sealed applications, a gasket or similar sealing element is provided in a gasket channel. A shoulder or detent prevents the container from entering the gasket channel, but permits the desired liquid-sealing when the gasket or similar sealing element is present in the channel. The sealing element may be foamed-in-place within the channel.

  • Patent number: 6419112
Abstract: A spill resistant lid includes a sealing bead in pressure contact with the inside wall of a container to be closed when the lid is in sealing position with respect to the container to substantially seal the container. The lid includes a first cylindrical wall and a second cylindrical wall spaced apart to form a receiving channel for the top of a container to be sealed. A ridge extends into the channel from the first cylindrical wall to hold the lid in place. The sealing bead extends into the channel from the second cylindrical wall. A central lid portion closes the area inside the second cylindrical wall and applies sealing pressure to the bead. In a preferred embodiment a third cylindrical wall in the central lid portion is joined to the second cylindrical wall by a web.

  • Patent number: 6352170
Abstract: Lid and container assembly in which lid features and securement strips cooperatively provide the assembly with tamper resistant and tamper indicator features. Specifically, the lid is structured so that one or more simple securement strips, such as adhesive tapes, or even a non-peripherally wrapped shrink band (e.g., one that is wrapped around the assembly from top to bottom), can be used to secure the lid to the container at one or more locations. The securement strip(s) inhibit egress into the container at the taped or secured regions. In the meantime, an egress barrier incorporated into the lid also inhibits egress into the container through untaped or unsecured regions of the assembly. Thus, the assembly is tamper resistant around the entire juncture between the lid and container even though only part of the juncture is covered by the securement strip(s).

  • Patent number: 6196404
Abstract: The present invention is a container for food. The container has a lid and a base which form a series of three self-reinforcing seals when mated. A protrusion on the lid reinforces the triple seal formed between the lid and base. The protrusion applies a force to the base, locking the lid and base together. The third seal has the largest surface area and acts as a first line of defense against food leakage out of the container and a last line of defense against the entry of contaminants into the container.

  • Patent number: 6056138
Abstract: A triple sealed container, comprising a base portion and a lid portion. The base consisting of a unitary component including a bottom portion attached to an upwardly extending perimeter wall, which is flurther connected to a peripherally extending rim having an inner and outer edge. The lid also consists of a unitary component, with a downwardly extending wall, which is connected to a peripherally extending rim also having an inner and outer edge. The base edge and the lid edge are correspondingly shaped to be mateable. The lid rim is also correspondingly shaped to engage the base rim. The contact of the edges and the rims form three main seals. The first seal is a result of the contact between the exterior edges of the base edge and the lid edge. The second seal is a result of contact between the interior edges of the base edge and the lid edge.
