One Piece Container And Closure Patents (Class 220/839)
  • Patent number: 6041957
Abstract: A one-piece box for storing small objects, molded from a flexible polymer foam material comprising an integrally formed bottom section, cover and hinge, characterized in that the hinge section is resilient and is capable of repeated articulation, said hinge section comprising compressed foam having a density of greater than that of the bottom and cover sections, and wherein the bottom section and cover contain means for sealingly engaging said bottom and cover sections. In method form, the method comprises supplying a sheet of crosslinked polymer foam of thickness x, heating said sheet to a temperature sufficient to substantially uniformly heat the entire cross-section of said foam sheet, and placing said heated sheet into an unheated compression mold containing a hinge forming section of essentially zero tolerance and forming said box under a compression pressure sufficient to reduce the thickness x of the polymer foam sheet by a factor of about 15 at the hinge section.

  • Patent number: 6042000
Abstract: A molded tray having a lid section and a storage section, and a method for its manufacture. The molded tray is especially adapted for the storage and service of food products, such as may be made and sold at take-out restaurants. The device comprises a lid section and a storage section interconnected with a bending, or hinge, section. The hinge section is provided with an area of reduced thickness providing a hinge point, and permitting the lid section to overlie the storage section without significant elastic memory so that the lid remains in the closed position adjacent the storage section. The method comprises the deposition of pulp fibers on a carrier net, with a mask plate positioned to prevent deposition of pulp fiber in the location of the area of reduced thickness.

  • Patent number: 6032681
Abstract: A compact or a small flat case, containing cosmetics such as women's face powder is disclosed. The compact has a case body produced from a foaming synthetic resin flat material having a high density, a board with at least one reservoir and a lock. The case body has lower and upper plates, having the same profile, and a connecting wall formed at the junction between the two plates in such a manner that the case body is slightly cut to a predetermined depth along two parallel and longitudinal cutting lines at its central portion, thus forming two hinge parts at positions around the cutting lines. The board with at least one reservoir is attached to an upper surface of the lower plate and is produced from a foaming synthetic resin material having a low density. The lock is mounted to between the free end of the upper plate and the free end of the lower plate, thus allowing the upper plate to be easily opened or closed.

  • Patent number: 6003713
Abstract: An opening arrangement for packaging containers designed so as to prevent splashing or spraying of liquid contents on reclosure of the opening arrangement. The opening arrangement (1) has a closure device (4) with a front end depressable into the pouring opening (5) of the opening arrangement, and a rear compression portion (10) of greater cross sectional area than the pouring opening (5). The compression portion (10) includes arrest heels (14) facing towards the pouring opening (5), the arrest heels, on reclosure of the opening arrangement, coming into contact with the wall surface (3) located around the pouring opening (5) and preventing any possible residual contents (9) thereon from causing splashing in connection with the reclosure operation.

  • Patent number: 5979687
Abstract: A plastic container comprises a lid and a base. The lid includes a top wall and a lid side wall extending downward from the top wall. The base includes a bottom wall and a base side wall extending upward from the bottom wall. In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, the lid includes a first stepped flange extending laterally outward from a lower portion of the lid side wall, and the base includes a second stepped flange extending laterally outward from an upper portion of the base side wall. Internal portions of the respective first and second stepped flanges form a button latch for securing locking the container in a closed position. In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, the lid side wall includes a plurality of facets interconnected at corners.

  • Patent number: 5960987
Abstract: A container having an integral lid hinged about the wall of the container to selectively close and seal the same on demand. Integral walls extend from the bottom portion of the device to form the container, the top portion terminates in a rim and a sealing ridge. Integral to one of the walls of the container is a lid formed by a crease within one of the walls, which crease defines the bottom end of the lid. The lid's top end is matched to the shape of the top portion of the container for conforming and locking therewith in the closed position, the lid extending above the top portion of the cup, forming a spout and a lid, at least one aperture formed in the lid to facilitate dispensing of the contents from the container when the lid is in the closed position.
