  • Patent number: 6020823
Abstract: A package wrap for decoratively covering a container having side walls defining an interior space for carrying a product therein, includes a flexible thin sheet of polymeric material adapted to be shrink-wrapped onto the exterior of the container. An illuminating or a sound producing device is positioned between the flexible thin sheet of polymeric material and the exterior of the container so that when the flexible sheet of polymeric material is shrink-wrapped onto the container, the illuminating device or the sound device will be held securely in place. The illuminating device is adapted to be illuminated upon activation by a pressure, motion, or acoustically sensitive switch. The sound device is adapted to produce an audible signal upon activation by a pressure or motion sensitive switch. When the illuminating device is activated, illumination therefrom will be visible through the flexible thin sheet of polymeric material to enhance and highlight a printed pattern on the exterior of the package wrap.

  • Patent number: 5944212
Abstract: A container includes a container body, a cap member, a disk member and an evacuating unit. The cap member is mounted on a top open end of the container body and is rotatable about a vertical axis. The disk member is provided beneath and inside the cap member to sealingly close the top open end. The disk member has a downward hollow mounting portion in fluid communication with the top open end. The evacuating unit is operable by the cap member for evacuating air from the container body, and is coupled with the disk member. The evacuating unit has a piston mounted on the downward hollow mounting portion. The piston is movable upward and downward in the downward hollow mounting portion via rotation of the cap member so as to suck out air from the container body.

  • Patent number: 5564584
Abstract: The invention provides a vent cap for automatically discharging a gas container such as a propane cylinder. The vent cap includes threads for securing the vent cap to the neck of the gas container. The vent cap further includes an indicator which has a pin and a button. When the button is manually depressed, the pin engages the valve stem of the check valve which seals the gas container, discharging gas from the container. The button includes a flexible, radially curved central portion which provides oil can action when the indicator is moved between the up position and the down position. A geometrical configuration of the central portion may be adjusted to vary the gas pressure threshold at which the indicator will remain in the down position to automatically discharge a nearly empty gas container.

  • Patent number: 5115938
Abstract: A container or can having a body and end portion which include free ends comprising plastic materials and which are joined and sealed by cooperatively curling juxtapositioned free ends. The method end apparatus of the invention forms the body portion with an opening surrounded by a free end suitable for curling and forms the end portion with a central portion surrounded by a free end suitable for curling. The container body and end portion are joined by juxtaposing their free ends for forming a plurality of walls, then the plastic in at least one of the free ends is provided in a condition at the time of curling which allows stress and related elastic strain and memory to be imparted to the plastic, followed by curling with a curling tool to intimately engage the ends and concurrently curl the perimeters thereof into a tightly curled configuration, wherein at least the one free end includes internal stress and related strain and memory for providing a seam of integrity and reliability.

  • Patent number: 4948665
Abstract: The prerequisites for the injection moulding from thermoplastic material of container lids with a tear-up opening arrangement which is to function well on opening as well as on reclosing are improved through the use of a modified thermoplastic containing inert filler in a quantity of 10-15% of the weight of the mixture. Such a modified thermoplastic is manufactured by heating a thermoplastic, known in itself, e.g. polyethylene, to melting temperature with simultaneous admixture of the filler. The mixture is mechanically processed for a good distribution of the filler in the melted plastic mass which thereafter is cooled to form the modified thermoplastics.

  • Patent number: 4805768
Abstract: A paper container filling a liquid content which comprises an upper air gap formed therein for sealing solely carbon dioxide or nitrogen gas and carbon dioxide. Thus, a recess is produced on the paper container by utilizing a small pressure reduction in the container generated as a result of carbon dioxide dissolved in the liquid content, and the recess is used as a criterion of deciding the presence of gas substitution, presence of pinhole of the container and the propriety of sealing of the container only by the recess. This container can be fully inspected by the naked eye. Further, a method of filling gas and apparatus for filling the gas in a composite paper container including aluminum foil or polyethylene by eliminating the abovementioned disadvantages and performing gas substitution merely by adding a simple unit on a filling machine, thereby holding taste, odor and nutrient components of the container contents for 4 or longer months.
