Rotatable Or Oscillatable Means Patents (Class 221/167)
  • Patent number: 10471559
Abstract: An insertable fastener installation apparatus for a flat substrate has a thickness, T. A roller press station is used to press T-nuts into holes in the substrate. An optical vision system detects the location of the holes in the moving substrate and aligns the t-nuts with the holes. A computer controlled pick and place robot takes T-nuts from an escapement of a hopper feed system and aligns, but does not fully insert, the t-nuts in the substrate. A conveyor system feeds the substrates through the optical vision system, the pick and place robot station and the roller press station. A first roller is spaced apart from a second roller by a gap in the roller press station and the gap is less than the thickness of the substrate. The hopper feed system includes a bulk hopper, a bowl, a track and an escapement.

The apparatus has a part-holding chamber for accommodating a number of chip parts. An arc-shaped chute groove is formed in the inner surface of the bottom of the part-holding chamber to orient the chip parts in a given direction and to guide the sliding chips. A gate port is formed at the lower end of the chute groove to pass the sliding chip parts in series out of the apparatus. The discharge passage is formed tangent to the chute groove to align the passed chip parts in a row and to deliver the chip parts in sequence. A swingable plate having a blade is mounted inside the part-holding chamber. This blade urges any chip part which is stopped in the gate port due to an abnormal orientation toward a direction different from the direction in which the chip parts are discharged, thus removing clogging.

Abstract: In a bulk feeder, chips, stored randomly in a storage chamber, are fed one by one into a pipe extending vertically downwardly from the bottom of the storage chamber, and are further sequentially fed to a pickup position. In order to prevent the incomplete feeding of the chips into the pipe, an outer tube is provided in a manner to insert the pipe into the outer tube, and two projections are formed around an outer peripheral surface of the outer tube, and a pin is received between the two projections. The pin is rotated by a motor in eccentric relation to a horizontal axis of rotation of this motor, and the outer tube, while rotating, moves upward and downward, so that an upper end portion of the outer tube projects upwardly beyond an upper end of the pipe. As a result, the outer tube breaks into and disperses the group of chips residing above the pipe, so that the chips can be fed one by one into the pipe, and then the chips are fed sequentially to the pickup position.

  • Patent number: 5575404
Abstract: A sorting and feeding apparatus causes components to be deposited into the central portion of a rotatable tube. As the tube rotates, the components are caused to move out of a first end or a second end of the tube, depending on the physical orientation of the components when they are deposited into the tube's central portion. When the components have a first end that has a larger diameter than a second end, rotation of the tube causes the components to move in a direction away from the larger diameter end and toward the smaller diameter end. This principle is used to urge the components to exit from the rotatable tube at an end of the tube that is determined by the physical orientation of the component. Components that are oriented in a desirable direction are fed into an associated apparatus or machine while the components that are oriented in an undesirable direction are returned to a feeding mechanism that recycles them back to the central portion of the tube.

Abstract: A track assembly (34, FIG. 1) is provided for guiding electrical contacts (12) in single file movement between an outlet of a feeder bowl (14) and a final processor (42), which enables rapid changeover for feeding contacts of different sizes and shapes. The track assembly (32, FIG. 2) is a self-contained unit that includes a track housing (35) and an actuator-operated release mechanism (80) that releases a front-most of the contacts while holding back the other contacts and that includes an actuator (130) mounted on the track housing and energized by pressured air received through a conduit (136) extending to a control (140). The track assembly is detachable and reattachable as a unit from the feeder bowl and from the control, so that when larger contacts are to be fed, the track assembly can be removed and another almost identical track assembly can be installed by mechanically mounting it at the feeder bowl outlet and connecting conduits to the control.

The test strips 10 include a base layer and at least one raised test field fixed to one side of the base layer. The test strips are contained disordered with respect to their longitudinal axis rotation position in a storage container. A separation and position correcting device 1 serves to feed the test strips 10 individually one after the other in a defined position to the analysis unit. Simplicity of construction and reliable operation are achieved due to the fact that the separation and position correcting device 1 includes a position correcting stage 30 with two rolls, between which a narrow gap 35 exists. The rolls rotate so that the surface 31a of the first roll 31 moves in the region of the gap 35 from top to bottom, while the surface 32a of the second roll 32 moves from bottom to top.
