Patent number: 6189729Abstract: A dispenser for a roll of decorative ribbon secured removably to a backing strip and having design elements formed at spaced intervals along the length of the ribbon by incomplete cut lines and capable of being separated at said cut lines and bent outwardly from the plane of the ribbon to provide a 3-dimensional ribbon effect, includes a container for the ribbon roll and a housing for the container. The space between the back walls of the container and housing serve to guide movement of the ribbon from the roll upwardly to the top of the container where the ribbon is bent sharply forward and extended through an opening at the back end of the top wall of the container. The bending effects detachment of the design element along its cut lines and causes the design element to project upwardly from the plane of the ribbon. As the ribbon is moved forwardly under the top wall of the container toward the front wall thereof, the upstanding design elements are bent rearward.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1998Date of Patent: February 20, 2001Assignee: Creative Concepts Unlimited, LLCInventor: Sheila K. Patent number: 5941413Abstract: A label dispenser includes a frame whose upper surface defines, in lateral cross-section, an arcuate trough within which to receive a supply of spiral-wound label-bearing linings or rolls. A pair of guide rods mounted on the frame in parallel-spaced relation to the trough's front edge guide the end of each lining first upwardly and then sharply downwardly so as to cause separation of individual labels from their respective linings upon movement of each lining relative to the guide rods. At least one spacer engages each guide rod at a like location intermediate the rod's ends so as to maintain the relative position of each guide during operation of the dispenser thereby to eliminate deleterious lateral deflection of one or more of the guide rods. Another rod is mounted on the frame in parallel-spaced relation to the trough's rear edge. Dividers slidably and pivotally supported by the rearward rod provide lateral support for the individual linings.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 1997Date of Patent: August 24, 1999Assignee: Filing Systems, Inc.Inventor: Daniel P. Patent number: 4378065Abstract: This invention relates to a portable, hand-operated, staple magazine holder for supplying staples to a work location. The staple magazine holder comprises in combination, an elongated housing having a slot for slidably receiving a plastic strip containing a plurality of staples of a predetermined height, and an extension from said housing through which said staples pass upon exiting from said housing. The extension has a vertical dimension less than said predetermined height such that the staples, contained in and moved by said plastic strip, will project above and below said extension. Additionally, the staple magazine holder includes means for indexing the movement of the staples, and for loading the holder with staples. To operate the staple magazine holder, the user moves the staple containing strip a predetermined distance to expose a staple in said extension. In this position the staple may be anchored in a post by striking the crown portion of the staple.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1982Date of Patent: March 29, 1983Inventor: Frank S. Smirne

Patent number: 4294357Abstract: The invention provides a container having a roll of abrasive adhesive discs releasably connected to a backing paper inside the container. The container is designed such that the discs and backing paper may be pulled from the upper front of the container and when the backing paper is pulled downward or outward over the front edge the abrasive discs release from the backing paper and are popped free and released from the backing paper while being presented for easy removal by the user without contamination of the adhesive surface. Alternatively, by pulling the backing generally upward from the device, the abrasive discs remain adhered to the backing paper and the backing paper can be cut or manually torn such that one or several of the discs may be pulled free from the device while remaining on the backing and removed to another work place for later use without risk of contamination of the adhesive backing.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1980Date of Patent: October 13, 1981Assignee: Kennecott CorporationInventors: John H. Patent number: 4180181Abstract: The tape splicing device includes a plurality of elongated tab members extending from a flexible marginal portion and an adhesive splicing strip adjoining each tab with the marginal portion. The tab members and the marginal portion are wound about themselves in roll form such that the marginal portion is in substantial surface contact with itself, and an underlying tab member is capable of at least some surface contact with an immediate overlaying tab member. The tape splicing device is made from a laminate of adhesive tape and flexible sheet that is scored, severed, rolled and trimmed to form individual independently removable elongated tab members and adhesive splicing strips.A dispenser for the tap splicing device includes a frame that holds a roll of the tape splicing device and permits its unwinding along a bearing surface. A resilient clip on the dispenser clamps the unwound portion against the bearing surface to permit detachment of individual tabs and splicing strips.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 1978Date of Patent: December 25, 1979Inventor: Arthur Brandwein

Patent number: 4162739Abstract: A label dispenser for dispensing adhesive labels from rolls of label tape, comprises a rectangular enclosure having a plurality of adjustable-width partitions for holding variable width label tape rolls in an upright position, and a hinged lid which can be opened to insert fresh tape rolls. The free ends of the label tapes are fed through a pair of sponge rubber strips, mounted, respectively, at the upper edge of the enclosure front wall and the forwardmost portion of the lid for mutual contact when the lid is closed. A hasp-type lid fastener serves to draw the lid downwardly, compressing the two rubber strips together, whereby to grip the label tapes frictionally between them when the lid is fastened shut.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1977Date of Patent: July 31, 1979Inventor: Harlan I. Patent number: 4113141Abstract: A device, and method for assembling same, is disclosed for the itemized dispensing of tabs having an adhesive coating on one side thereof, which tabs are polygonally shaped and obliquely, releasably mounted on a rolled strip of backing material. The device comprises a roll of such tabs disposed within a box having one side thereof with a triangularly shaped opening in its lower end. The triangular opening is defined by the box edge adjacent the opening and the lower side edge, which intersects the box edge at the angle of obliquity at which the tabs are disposed on the backing strip. As the backing strip is drawn through the opening, the leading edge of a tab will be exposed free and clear of the box edge, and the entire tab will be exposed free and clear of the lower side edge, whereby the tab may be peeled from the backing strip. As the leading edge of a tab is exposed free and clear of the lower box edge, one, and only one, entire tab is exposed exterior of the box.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 1976Date of Patent: September 12, 1978Assignee: Nortronics Company, Inc.Inventor: Mervin B. Patent number: 4004683Abstract: A flexible rubber strip has openings slightly smaller than the shank of a power load spaced along its length. Power loads having shank and head portions are inserted through the openings up to the head portion in which position the power loads are gripped by the rubber to hold the power loads until forceably removed. The strip with power loads is contained in a box with one end of the strip protruding through an opening in the top of the box. An operator of a powder actuated tool grabs the protruded end of the strip and pulls a section of the strip from the box. He inserts the first power load into the cartridge receiving chamber of the powder actuated tool and by peeling the strip over the head portion of the power load separates the power load from the strip. The box containing the strip can be clipped to the operator's belt or contained in the pocket of an apron.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1975Date of Patent: January 25, 1977Assignee: Omark Industries, Inc.Inventors: Raymond V.
