  • Patent number: 6966457
Abstract: A device for squeezing various household collapsible tubes comprises two lever handles, two pintles, two torsional springs, a primary roller, and a secondary roller. The lever handles are held together by and are free to rotate about the two pintles, forming a double non-crossing class 1 lever arrangement. The rollers, held in gudgeons by snap fit, are also free to rotate. The primary roller is distinguished from the secondary roller by having a crank at one end. The torsional springs, anchored by the pintles, provide a torque which causes the two rollers to clamp together. Operation of the tube squeezing device proceeds by inserting the crimped end of a collapsible tube between the rollers and turning the crank, thereby turning the rollers so as to squeeze the tube flat and to push its contents toward the nozzle end. Insertion and extraction of the tube is effected most readily by applying a compressive force to the two lever handles, creating a gap between the rollers for the tube to easily pass through.

  • Patent number: 6186362
Abstract: An extractor neatly and cleanly empties a tube of toothpaste, or the like. The extractor includes a pair of roller assemblies and a pair of end caps. Each roller assembly has a pair of balls which fit within sockets formed in the end caps. In one embodiment, the balls have slits to enable sections of the balls to move towards and away from each other. The balls are made of resilient material, such that the sections tend to assume a spaced-apart position in the absence of an applied compressive force. As the ball is urged into the socket, the sections of the ball become compressed, thus enabling the ball to pass through a hole in the end cap and into the socket. When the ball has reached its socket, the sections return to their initial position, so as to lock the ball within the socket. In an alternative embodiment, the ball is not compressible, but is instead inserted into a deformable socket having resiliently movable walls which lock around the ball.

  • Patent number: 5497913
Abstract: A mixing bag and method is provided for mixing ingredients and dispensing the mixed ingredients. The bottom of the bag has a converging tip. The top edge of the bag defines an open end and includes a reciprocally shaped edge to the bottom edge so that the bags can be cut from a continuous tube of material. The bag is filled with ingredients to be mixed through the open end and the ingredients are mixed by kneading the bag with the hands. The bag is closed prior to mixing. Once the ingredients are sufficiently mixed, the converging tip of the bag is removed and the contents are squeezed out from the bag. Prior to mixing, a closure device, or a twist applied to the bag, closes off the open end of the bag. Particular materials to be mixed are dental alginates and stones for making dental impressions. Other ingredients besides dental products can be mixed in the bag.

  • Patent number: 5277335
Abstract: The present invention is a tube press designed to squeeze excess toothpaste, ointments, and similar materials trapped at the bottom of a collapsible tube dispenser. Two rods having oblongated cross-sections are positioned in parallel and have notches to guide and hold two bands or O-rings at each end. The rods have preferred cross-sections of ellipses or football shapes. A tube-receiving slot is formed by gradual slopes towards a nip. The bands or O-rings provide pressure against the tube which is sandwiched between the two rods within the nip. Sliding the whole assembly up the length of the tube forces the residual contents to the top.
