  • Patent number: 8684236
Abstract: A dispensing apparatus including a product dispenser in which product is dispensed by manual movement of an activation mechanism as, for example, by moving a lever with a person's hand, arm or foot. The dispensing apparatus includes a piezoelectric electrical generator for generating electrical energy as a result of the manual movement of the activation mechanism. The piezoelectric generator is carried on an elongated cantilevered spring member which biases an activation mechanism to return to an unbiased position after deflection by a user to dispense fluid. The electrical energy from the generator may be utilized in the dispensing apparatus to power a data communication unit for receiving information about the product dispenser and transmitting the information to a receiver, preferably but not necessarily wirelessly. The relative amounts of electrical energy generated may be used to estimate the amount of fluid dispensed and the extent to which a fluid reservoir is full.

  • Patent number: 8505782
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dispensing sanitizer fluid. The apparatus includes a handle having a trigger lever and a spray nozzle; a check valve coupled to the spray nozzle; a pump assembly fluidly coupled to the check valve; and a reservoir cartridge fluidly coupled to the pump assembly, where manipulation of the handle and the trigger lever causes the pump assembly to supply sanitizer fluid from the cartridge, through the check valve, and to the nozzle. A method of selectively dispensing sanitizer fluid includes selectively manipulating a handle to manipulate a door latch or manipulating a handle and a trigger lever to manipulate a door latch and dispense sanitizing fluid through a spray nozzle proximate the trigger lever.

  • Patent number: 8485395
Abstract: A product dispensing system includes a locking mechanism to prevent actuation of the system absent an authorized product refill unit. More specifically, the dispensing system includes a housing and an actuator slidably secured within the housing and including at least one locking post extending therefrom. The actuator is adapted to actuate a pump to cause dispensing of a product. A release ring is rotatably secured within the housing and includes at least one locking post extending therefrom and aligned with the locking post of the actuator. The release ring also includes at least one ramped surface. The locking posts of the actuator and release ring engage one another in a locked position to prevent actuation of the dispensing system, and the release ring is adapted to be rotated to an unlocked position upon insertion of an authorized refill unit.

Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing a personal care product includes a housing, a first panel disposed inside the housing and including a plurality of receptacles, and a first key that is sized to be interchangeably received in each of the receptacles. The apparatus further includes a container sized and shaped to be secured in a particular orientation within the housing, and having a surface that faces the panel when the container is secured in the particular orientation within the housing. A first depression is formed in the container surface to complement with specificity the first key's exterior shape and positioned to pair with the key when the container is secured in the particular orientation within the housing and the key is received in one of the receptacles.

  • Patent number: 8464912
Abstract: A liquid soap dispenser having a permanent housing permits simplified insertion and replacement of disposable fluid reservoirs. The housing includes an actuator assembly which is cycled by a lever between first and second positions. The actuator assembly couples to a piston element of a piston pump carried on the reservoir. The piston element includes resiliently deformable fingers which act to secure the piston element to the actuator assembly for sliding movement therewith. If, on insertion of a replacement reservoir, the reservoir is positioned uncoupled from the actuator assembly, on first cycling of the actuator assembly the fingers deform to permit movement of the actuator assembly relative to the piston element and move towards a coupled orientation. In the coupled orientation, the fingers return to an undeformed configuration securing the piston element to the actuator assembly.

Abstract: A liquid dispenser includes a pressing unit is pivotably connected to a base received in a body. A guiding tube in communication with a container is movably connected to an engagement cap. An inner tube includes a passage in communication with a passage of an outer tube. The inner tube further includes at least one hole in communication with the passage of the inner tube and a passage of the guiding tube. A mouth includes a tube and an end cap having an aperture. The tube includes two rods movably engaged in two sliding grooves of the pressing unit. The tube is coupled to the outer tube, with the aperture of the end cap in communication with the passage of the outer tube. When the pressing unit is pressed, the transverse rods are driven by the sliding grooves to move upward, causing dispensation of a fluid via the aperture.
