Patent number: 5014879Abstract: A device for winding up collapsible tubes, having open and closed ends, to allow full expression of contents from the open end and to prevent the wound tube from unwinding. The device includes an elongated slot shaped opening in one member or mandrel for receiving the closed end of a tube, such as a toothpaste tube. After the tube has been inserted into that slot and some amount of tube contents has been expressed, a handle, pivotally attached to one end of the member containing the slot, is pivoted to an open position not overlying the slot and substantially normal to the longitudinal axis of the mandrel and is used to wind the tube. After winding, the handle will be pivoted back to its closed position where it is horizontally offset from and overlies at least a part of the mandrel and will rest against the wound layer or layers of tubing therebetween. Because of the cooperative relationship of the handle and the mandrel, the tube is prevented from unwinding.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1986Date of Patent: May 14, 1991Inventor: Robert Hill

Patent number: 4961508Abstract: A condiment dispenser is provided having a length of resilient elastic tubing with an upper tube section and a lower tube section. An arm is pivotally mounted adjacent the tubing and moveable through dispensing and return strokes. The arm has an upper arm portion adjacent the upper tube section and a lower arm portion adjacent the lower tube section. During the dispensing stroke, the upper arm portion moves to compress the upper tube section against a wall on the opposite side of the tubing while the lower arm position retracts from the lower tube section to cause the condiment to be dispensed. The return stroke is caused by the return of the compressed upper tube section to a less compressed section, causing the lower arm section to compress and close the tubing at the lower tube section against the wall.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1989Date of Patent: October 9, 1990Assignee: Restaurant Technology, Inc.Inventors: Ralph Weimer, Louis Porcaro

Patent number: 4801050Abstract: A flow control device for controlling the flow rate of liquid through a flexible tube which comprises a body having sides and a slot to receive the flexible tube passing through the body. The slot commences at one of the sides of the body and the length of the slot is sufficient to receive most of the tube. The slot has sides spaced apart a predetermined distance sufficient to bear against the sides of the tube when in position in the slot to deform the tube inwardly and evenly along those sides a sufficient degree to provide an even, predetermined reduced flow rate through the tube. Because the tube is constricted in a routine manner by the slot of the device, a predictable reduced flow rate can be achieved for outlet tubes of a similar construction and diameter, making it possible to achieve a predetermined, proper flow rate through that tube.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1987Date of Patent: January 31, 1989Inventor: Michael Bell

Patent number: 4663032Abstract: A press for driving a plasma layer and a buffy-coat layer in succession out of a centrifuged whole blood bag which has upper and lower press plates between which a clamping element is displaceable, all juxtaposed with a stationary plate so that after displacement to the lower press plate to drive off plasma and operation of the upper press plate to spread the buffy-coat layer in height, the clamping element can be actuated to clamp off the bag between the buffy-coat layer and the red cell concentrate so that advance of the upper press plate can drive off the buffy-coat layer.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1985Date of Patent: May 5, 1987Assignee: NPBI Nederlands Produktielaboratorium voor Bloedtransfusieapparatuur en Infusievloeistoffen B.V.Inventors: Johannes A. Patent number: 4653987Abstract: In an infusion pump or especially a peristaltic infusion pump of the type in which a drug liquid is forced to flow through an infusion tube by peristalsis, the pump mechanism can be readily pulled out of the main body. More specifically, the pump mechanism can be detachably fitted into and held at a predetermined position in a pump mechanism housing recess defined in an infusion pump casing and the pumping mechanism is then drivingly coupled through a suitable power transmission mechanism with a driving means disposed within the casing. And the pump mechanism is separated from the interior of the casing by means of the pump mechanism housing recess.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1985Date of Patent: March 31, 1987Inventors: Tsuyoshi Tsuji, Naosumi Nagahori

Patent number: 4651898Abstract: A system for dispensing simultaneously into a single receptacle milk from different sources in a milk dispensing cabinet. The cabinet comprises two adjacent compartments for different milk containers. Each container has a flexible outlet tube for the milk contained therein. The cabinet has a milk dispenser outlet controller comprising a channel defined by walls, which channel is normally vertically oriented and through which channel the outlet tubes from each milk container pass. The tubes are positioned a similar distance with respect to one of the walls of the channel. A pinch valve, having a surface parallel to that wall, is positioned on the opposite side of the tubes with respect to that wall. Its surface is movable in parallel fashion with respect to the wall to permit simultaneous opening or closing of the flow of milk through the tubes.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1984Date of Patent: March 24, 1987Inventor: Michael Bell

Patent number: 4643337Abstract: A dispenser for viscous materials such as toothpaste is disclosed. The dispenser comprises an elongated container having a spout at its upper end and a rockable finger actuator operable to dispense contents when depressed. The actuator is connected to an elongated operating rod which is coupled to a follower by means of a spray clutch which causes the follower to move upwardly in the container in increments in response to rocking motion of the actuator. The lower end of the operating rod is connected to a base member having a resilient portion and a peripheral recess which receives the lower end of the container. The resilient portion of the base member pulls the operating rod downwardly for repositioning the same after each stroke of the actuator, and the operating rod pulls upwardly on the base member to securely mount the same to the container.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 1984Date of Patent: February 17, 1987Assignee: Hex Plastics, Inc.Inventors: Paul Heck, Eugene F. Patent number: 4621749Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing viscous material from a container having an elongate, flexible dispensing tube includes a back plate for wall mounting and a cover, hingedly connected to said back plate and movable between open and closed positions with respect thereto. A normally concealed but accessible latch mechanism is carried by the back plate and the cover for releasably securing the cover in its closed position. The back plate has an integral seat for reception of the container and a tube receiving member for seating and locating the tube which extends from the container. A dispensing bar is hingedly mounted on the back plate and carries a resiliently mounted pressure member. The dispensing bar and pressure member are normally urged into engagement with the tube and toward the back plate when the tube is held in the tube receiving member and are further movable into collapsing relationship with the tube upon the application of hand pressure to the dispensing bar.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1984Date of Patent: November 11, 1986Assignee: Go-Jo IndustriesInventor: Joseph S.
