Abstract: An apparatus for mixing solid particles and a liquid, especially wood chips and glue. A motor-driven stirrer in a cylinderical trough continuously mixes the materials which enter at one end of the trough and are discharged at the other end. The outlet of the trough has a pivotable throttle with a counterweight which controls the degree of opening of the throttle. An electrical signal related to the load on the stirrer motor is the control signal for a control loop whose final control element displaces the counterweight to maintain the electrical load of the drive motor approximately constant.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for taking-in a fibre layer in blow-room machines wherein the fibre layer is pressed by a number of pivotable pedal levers distributed across the width of the machine, and loaded by a pressing device, against a take-in roll. In the absence of fibre material between the take-in roll and the pedal levers, the pedal levers are temporarily lifted-off the take-in roll.
Abstract: A spreader is described, primarily for use in distributing sand and the like on ice and snow-covered sidewalks. The spreader has a frame supported on ground wheels and a sand hopper is provided on the frame. An auger is mounted at a lower end of the hopper in an opening in the hopper to control the flow of sand from the spreader. A driving wheel is operably coupled to the auger, and supported on the hopper for movement between an operative position in which the wheel is in peripheral driving engagement with one of the ground wheels and an inoperative position in which the driving wheel is clear of this ground wheel. In the operative position the auger is driven as the spreader moves along the ground to spread sand and in the inoperative position the driving wheel is disengaged from the ground wheel and the auger is stationary.
