    Abstract: A rotary dosing device for use in analytical instrumentation quickly transfers a sequence of precise molar quantities of gas from a primary stream into a secondary stream. The device has a rotating chamber with dosing ports that cycle through three states: fill, equilibrate, and transfer. The device cycles in an overlapping manner such that as one dose volume fills with gas from the primary stream, another equilibrates at a known pressure and temperature, and another transfers its contents to the secondary stream. The device initiates its operation so that the first transfer in a sequence is a properly filled and equilibrated dose from the primary stream. Rather than cycling a single dose volume through the three states multiple times, the overlapping operation of the rotary doser enables multiple precise molar quantities of gas to be transferred in one-third the time.

    Abstract: A rotational seasoning dispenser with a dispensing mechanism that applies a rotating disk which has equally separated cavities. When each cavity is in the container the stored seasoning drops into and loads the cavity. Next, the disk transfers and dispenses the seasoning outside by turning the loaded cavities from the container to a dispensing aperture. The disk has smooth, parallel and planar upper and lower planes which slide closely fitting container's planar planes above and below it. This configuration hermetically isolates the container from the environment by providing simultaneous airtight covering of each cavity while it approaches and overlaps the dispensing aperture. This isolation prevents atmospheric moisture absorption which results in lumping of seasoning. The rotating cavities also can loosen lumped seasoning into particulates. An electrically motorized version of the dispenser is also included.

Mercury is fed by gravity into the selected cavity at a loading position where any trapped air or gas escapes through a vent port. The port is so small that surface tension prevents entry of the mercury. The plate is then advanced to an unloading position where a puff of argon gas expels the mercury charge into a delivery channel.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for inserting solid spices and liquid spices into the interior of meat for seasoning prior to cooking. The apparatus are disclosed comprises a reservoir for holding the spices, a tapered meat-piercing rod inserted into the interior of meat by application of pressure from a tube containing a measured amount of spices. After reaching the desired depth, the tapered rod is withdrawn, leaving the spices in the meat, and the tube is recharged with spices for repetition of the injection process. Injecting pressure can be exerted on the tapered rod by a handle acting against spring bias means, or by compression of a trigger and handle apparatus.

    Abstract: A dispenser-cover adapted to replace existing auxiliary caps on containers for granulated or powdered coffee or other material in particulate form, the cover serving to discharge a metered amount of such material. The cover is constituted by a cap attachable to the mouth of the container, the cylindrical side wall of the cap having an opening therein which receives a trough-like spout whose apex is pivoted to the side wall. Extending across the upper section of the spout is a divider that partitions the section into two zones, such that when the spout is swung open to expose the front zone and the container is tipped over, particulate material lying in the lower section of the spout whose capacity is equal to one teaspoon or any other predetermined measure, is discharged through the open zone, the divider blocking the discharge of additional material.

The chamber contains a floor which slopes downwardly toward the outlet aperture at a negative angle which is greater than the angle of repose of coffee beans to promote the flow of coffee beans from the chamber to the grinder.
