Tilting Nozzle Patents (Class 222/402.21)
  • Patent number: 6619515
Abstract: An aerosol tilt valve has an integrated molded hollow stem shaft and molded conical stem cup. An upper outer circumferential edge of the stem cup normally fully seals, except when the valve is tilted, against a gasket surrounding the stem shaft. The outer lower wall of the stem shaft and the inner wall of the stem cup define an annular space. At least one molded metering orifice below the upper edge of the stem cup extends from the annular space through the stem shaft. The stem shaft is molded with a molded annular recess about the lower shaft end and with the at least one molded metering orifice. The molded stem shaft is inserted in a mold cavity. A lower portion of an annular shield blocks the metering orifice, and together with the mold cavity and lower part of the stem shaft, defines the stem cup shape. The stem cup is molded having an annular projection extending into the annular recess to form a strong and fully integrated stem cup and stem shaft functioning essentially as one piece.

  • Patent number: 6491187
Abstract: An inverted aerosol dispensing device is disclosed comprising an aerosol container extending between a top portion and a bottom portion for containing an aerosol product and an aerosol propellant therein. An aerosol valve is located at the bottom portion of the aerosol container. The aerosol valve has a valve stem for displacing the aerosol valve from a biased closed position to an open position to discharge the aerosol product from the valve stem. An undercap is secured to the bottom portion of the aerosol container for supporting the aerosol container on a supporting surface. An actuator is movably mounted relative to the undercap for moving the valve stem upon displacement of the actuator for discharging the aerosol product from the valve stem in a generally downwardly direction through the undercap. The invention is particularly useful in the dispensing of viscous aerosol products.

  • Patent number: 6488974
Abstract: The invention relates to a package for dispensing a foamed milk product. This package includes an aerosol can which contains a liquid phase in which a propellant gas is dissolved. The can is provided with a valve and a nozzle immediately downstream of the valve for spraying and foaming of the liquid phase. The nozzle has a central borehole and at least one lateral orifice which opens into an outlet tube. As the liquid phase is dispensed through the nozzle, a foam is generated.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for dispensing a product. The system may include a receptacle containing the product, a tilt-type valve on the receptacle, and a dispensing head for actuating the tilt-type valve and dispensing the product. The dispensing head may include at least one orifice for dispensing the product. The dispensing head and the tilt-type valve may be configured such that actuation of the tilt-type valve may be achieved only by applying a force on the tilt-type valve in a direction lateral to the tilt-type valve.

  • Patent number: 6439440
Abstract: A dispensing head for dispensing a product from a receptacle associated with an actuatable dispensing element. The dispensing head comprises a mounting element configured to be fixed to the receptacle, and at least one dispensing orifice. The dispensing head further may comprise a dispensing nozzle forming a channel configured to pass product to the at least one dispensing orifice. The nozzle may be configured to be rotatably fixed relative to the mounting element and also be configured to be displaced so as to cause actuation of the dispensing element. The dispensing head may also comprise a cap configured to be screwed onto the dispensing nozzle. The cap may be configured to prevent the actuation of the dispensing element when the cap is in a screwed-on position on the dispensing nozzle.

  • Patent number: 6398082
Abstract: In the present invention, an actuating mechanism for a hand held canister is provided in which a slider is moveable by finger pressure from a valve-disengaged position into a valve-engagable position and a concealed spring returns the slider to a valve-disengaged position when finger pressure is removed. The spring is preferably molded with the slider, projects through a slit in the over-cap of the canister and acts in a vertical plane against a stop depending from the over-cap. It is energised when the slider is moved into the valve engagable position. The slider is preferably releasably locked in the valve disengaged position.

  • Patent number: 6338442
Abstract: A dispenser for containing a product stored under pressure, for example a cosmetic product, and dispensing it, is provided. The dispenser includes a container containing a pressurized product with a valve. The valve includes a valve body, an inlet orifice and an outlet orifice, and a closure member for selectively placing inlet orifice in flow communication with the outlet orifice to cause the product to be dispensed through at least one dispensing orifice, in response to actuation of the closure member. The valve body is located outside the container. The communication between the inlet orifice and the outlet orifice is caused by pressure exerted on the closure member.

  • Patent number: 6199726
Abstract: According to the present invention, a dispenser for dispensing a substance from a pressurized canister having a nozzle selectively operable to control release of the substance is provided. The dispenser includes an elongate housing for a pressurized canister, where the housing includes a proximal end, a distal end, and a sidewall. The distal end of the housing has an aperture formed therein, and the sidewall has an opening formed therein. An actuator, which is movable at least axially forward toward the distal end and axially backward toward the proximate end, extends within the elongate housing through the opening and cooperates with a nozzle of the pressurized canister. To operate the dispenser, the actuator is moved to an axially forward firing position in which the actuator causes the nozzle to operate, thereby releasing the substance from the pressurized canister through the aperture in a substantially axial direction.
